Chris Low - ESPN Picking Auburn to be Middle of the Pack

  • He says Auburn will be 5th-7th in the SEC West. I think we will surprise a lot of people. Some of our young talent will mature and we'll be very competitive. WDE!

  • Isn't that what we were picked this past year? I'll take back to back national championships any day!!

We definitely will not be 7th in West next year. I guarantee that!! Since there are only 6 teams in the West.

Well consider the source.................ESPN. Their recent track record on predictions is abysmal. They picked against us all year.

  • Considering what's being lost... it's not an unreasonable prediction. That's an all-star OL. If Grimes stays, I think chances for an 8-9 win season greatly improve. If he goes... well, we'll see.

  • I will definitely take chris low's assessment 100%. surrenderlol

I think he meant 5th to 7th in the SEC overall, which is a lot better than Andre Ware's 4 and 8 prediction.

  • I think our Tigers will shock some people again next season. I hope Coach Chizik tells the players that Ware has predicted a 4-8 season for them. Just more motivation!!!mrt

  • We may be 7-5; or 9-3, or who knows?

All I know that if any of us had walked out of the Clemson game and said, "Auburn is on its way to the National Championship," how many illustrious prognosticators would have had us committed to an institution?

Going into this year Nick Fairley was just an underachiever with a big body. Cam Newton was a kid with potential who probably wouldn't be able to read SEC defenses. And where are these two guys today?

Gus Malzahn was a heckuva coordinator before Cam Newton and will be next year as well. He may not have the same O-Line but I don't think he's fretting either.

And our defense--as maligned as its been--just shut down the best offense in the history of collegiate football (according to prognosticators). We'll lose some players but gain experience in other areas.

If we struggle next year, that's okay. I'm not ready to predict another national title (wouldn't have predicted this one!), but this bunch of coaches has surprised us two years in a row. Here's predicting a third year of over achieving--and a bit of excitement over how far they might go.

  • I hope they continue to show a lack of respect as it's just added motivation for nexts years squad. If they experts were ready experts, they would have a multi-million dollar coaching gig.

  • I will ALWAYS remember what Coach Pat Dye told my friend Phil Parramoe(AM 560-The Ball) in an interview....and I paraphrase..."Auburn was borned out of controversy/adversity"...GOTTA LOVE IT!!!!!....We have always thrived as the underdog when NO ONE expected anything from us....COME ON ESPN...Give us your best shot...We love it....We'll do our talking on the feild....Do we expect a repeat of last year , well heck NO , BUT , we DO have a Coach and staff that keeps us focused / motivated and teaches us to have faith in ourselves to "Do what we do"....War Eagle Baby!!!!

If you have to ask why I love Auburn so much...never mind

  • Let's not forget Herbstreit picked us to win the west....probably the only one who has nevee lived in 36830 to do so.

Middle of the SEC next year would be fine. Like MWD said, that means a good bowl and a couple good wins.

more than that, it would set us up nicely for 2012, although I do wish Frazier had been a freshman this year, not next.

  • Schedule... That's why we will be third or fourth in the west. Loosing what we are loosing along with a tough schedule will get us at least a couple times I think..

But who knows... Chiz has theses guys playing in a different zone now.
