He can go back to NFL and hope for some small chance that he can be a head coach. Or he can utilize a resurgence at Auburn as a jump to a college head coach. He's had 12 years in the NFL to get a shot and it ain't worked. What's that saying about insanity....
Time for a new plan Rich. Lots of guys in NFL got Super Bowl rings on their head coach resumes. Not many in college...

The guy got a lot better offer to go to Dallas. He probably wishes it had come before he accepted the Auburn job. We all need to cut him some slack. Every coach we hired came because of a better offer than the previous job. Let him go to Dallas and wish him well. I learned a long time ago that if you win a customer because of your price, you will eventually lose that customer due to price. Also, we don't know that the recruiting thing didn't influence him. Everyone is not cut out to kiss up to 17 year old spoiled brats.

Or he can go to the one of the premier organizations in all of sports and make some major chedda. Or like you said, HOPE to resurrect a 3-9 program and HOPE someone notices enough to offer him a job.

I thought CB was excited to get back into the college game and liked to recruit. Also he wanted to learn more about Gus Malzahn's offense.
The OP made a very good point IMO. He stays here and it may lead to a HC position... He's tried the NFL route and it hasn't worked.

I understand you want the best for Auburn, as all of us do, but please be realistic. You haven't considered the possibility that he might not WANT to be a head coach. Perhaps he's happy being a position coach. If Jerry Jones is going to pay him royally to be a position coach, more power to both of them. I certainly can't blame him...

Not sure how many ST/RB coaches move into HC roles. Does not seem like it would be a high count.

when he initially was hired i was very excited. When the shuffling started in the NFL i wondered if he felt he made a mistake leaving so quuickly. everything i have read about his personality i think he could easily get a lower level college job soon and start up the ladder if he wanted. it is a tough situation.
