Thinking out loud and languishing with my brothers (and sisters) on this board, but just looked at the piece that Ron put up. The evaluation point to fire or to keep a coach was to ask these two questions: Where is the program at and where is it heading? Two years ago this was an easy eval -- everything green and beautiful.
So, the question after the NC was 'where is the program headed?' -- all knew that going forward was a new, young team -- even with CTT yelling at Spring training, "Where all the good players at?"
The very next year (2011) was totally not encouraging. Yea, we went 8 & 5, but oh the five losses. But! the Chick-filet bowl game was extremely encouraging. So, in January 2012, Where we were at was still a question mark, and where we were heading was maybe, hopeful, and even optimistic -- but no one thought anything pointed backward.
Fast forward to August 2012, many, including myself, were completely shocked from the get-go with the offense. The defense looked a little better, but ... tackling issues seem to still plague us. So, instead of waiting til the end of the year for evaluation, these two questions are now being asked every week -- and the answer?
Where are we at? Worse and worse and worse.
Where are we heading? a potential great recruiting class, lot's of good young players, but no solid QB.
I am a Chizik sunshine pumper, but I think even I have crossed over in my thinking that a major change from top to bottom has to happen. The most striking area is the lack of improvement -- especially the offense which seems to decline every week. A good coach utilizes his players strength with their adjustments. Either we do not have good players or the coaching adjustments are not good. The good recruits (from past classes) seem to answer this question which points the focus back upon the coach(es). Is it totally CGC's fault or CL's, I am not sure, but one did hire the other.
