***Auburn coach Gene Chizik called Mississippi State a very talented team and he expects a physical game Saturday. He said the game is very important to Auburn and Miss St.
***Chizik said center Reese Dismukes will play Saturday but it hasn’t been determined if he will start yet.
***Chizik said FB Jay Prosch returned to school today. He will return to Mobile for his mother’s funeral on Thursday and return to play Saturday against Mississippi State.
***Chizik said CB Robenson Thereie and S Erique Florence were in a backup role right now but challenging for playing time. Chizik said they would play if they earn it this week.
***Chizik said he was impressed with MSU on special team and defense, particularly DB Jonathan Banks and their secondary.
***Chizik said they are working on tackling in practice, particularly the way the approach the ball and being in better tackling positions. He said it was important to get off the field early in the game on 3rd down so offenses can't wear you down.
"Those are issues we have addressed and will continue to address this week," Chizik said.
***Chizik said freshman CB Jonathan Jones can be a very good player for Auburn. He said he's very smart and conscientious.
"He showed up Saturday and we expect him to continue to show up. We're going to give him a bigger role," Chizik said.
***Chizik said freshman OL Avery Young was put in a tough spot and he's real proud of the way he played. He said Young had a key block on Emory Blake's long TD catch.
***Chizik said it was "very important" to get other receivers involved in the offense other than Blake and Philip Lutzenkirchen. Chizik said he has confidence in those guys and they have to get them the ball. They have to prove that they can make a play when they get an opportunity.
***Chizik said it was very good for his team to open against a team the caliber of Clemson. He said it exposed their deficiencies and it's very glaring to his team where improvement needs to be made.
"We got a lot of truth told to us Saturday night," he said.
***Chiizk said he and Kiehl Frazier had a great conversation Monday. He said Kiehl did some really nice things and has some things he needs to improve on.
"Overall, I'm really proud of him," he said.
I think Chiz is still upset at RD and wont tell him if he is going to start until Friday at the earliest. He wants RD to keep fighting and fighting to get that spot back so he learns the lesson needed.
KF is going to continue to get better and better and the Oline WITH RD could be a very special group ASAP.
The Omac Mason Combo is working......Now lets get the CG and MB combo working!
JJones is gonna be a baller!!! FAST. Made a big special teams play and with the way our corners and DBs played this weekend he could see the field really qucikly.
play jackson St and learn that you can beat a bucnh of D3 players....Lose a close game to a top 15 Clem team and have a chacne to tie it at the end and you learnt hat you may not be as far off as it might look. This week is the real tester. Beat st and we wil see a very diff team the rest of the year. Lose and it could go south quick! BUT WHATEVER HAPPENS WE ARE ALL IN AND ALL AUBURN HERE AT THE RANROBS HOUSEHOLD!!!

I see this as a lot more than one game in. This is year 4 and we still can't stop a short passing game or tackle consistently. Every team the last 3+ has used basically the same game plan offensively against us and most all have had success. It looked to me like Clemson ran the same plays as last year with the same results.Even a fry cook knows if you are burning the fries every time it ain't the fries fault, your approach needs to change. CGC is second in my heart only to Coach Dye and the way he has represented AU is beyond question and makes me proud every time he speaks. Tackling is basic defense, adjusting to what the opponent's offense is doing is basic defense. That being said the offense looked much more like SEC caliber than last year and the times we were in the I formation looked impressive. ST is solid again and the defense up front showed flashes of improvement, but bad tackling leads to bad results every time.
Today is a great day to love Auburn, a little better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.
the same tackling problem has existed since Chiz got here and hasn't gotten any better. No real way for the SSPers to spin that one.
I Believe Auburn and Love IT...4 Life!
You should prepare yourself to live with the consequences of your decisions, whatever they may be.
