Recruiters aren't dealing with the engineering staff at Auburn. They are recruiting guys who just started driving a couple of years ago, filled with hormones and rap music. Some times it shows more than other times.

So a school that he has never heard from is in his top 3, in front of an in state powerhouse who's head coach is calling. Hmm. Don't know if I would waste my time with this one.

Please give this kid a break. I don't know about all of you but trying to remember back a zillion years ago, if I had had some adult call me on the phone when I was a junior and ask me questions about my thoughts about choosing a college and why, asking me to compare and contrast different schools, coaches, styles and environments and my perspective on a number of schools I would have probably come off much worse than this kid. I got my driver's license in late November of my junior year and I knew next to nothing and was very immature. I cringe remembering some of the things I said and did and how foolish and naive I must have sounded to an adult back then (and for a long time after), and I was blessed to grow up in a wonderful home, went to very good schools and had a lot of support from my parents, teachers and others.

Let's cut all these kids some slack and also realize they have grown to this point in their life in a rarefied atmosphere, being told by virtually all their fellow students and adults they come in contact with that they are demigods who can do no wrong and will be a superstar in college and the NFL. Reality is somewhere down the road with a two-by-four with their name on it. They have no idea it's coming or when it will clobber them but it will happen to all of them.

Even as seniors, it's amazing what some of these kids being recruited now are dealing with. When I read stories about some of them having little or no parental support and realizing that, for many of them, most of the support, mentoring and caretaking they receive is from coaches and others, many of whom have some stake in their athletic performance and an agenda concerning their athletic future, it's amazing so many of them turn out so well.
