Its mid-afternoon on a football Saturday and as I sit in front of the TV, I am reminded to never make your opinions absolutes. I am talking of our recent coaching change at Auburn and the negative reactions almost every talking head made about our choice. To say Coach Chizik was an unpopular choice is an understatement, especially among the modern day press. The politically correct wanted us to hire Turner Gill. His team is getting run out of Waco by Baylor. Baylor. Most Auburn people would have embraced Will Muschamp - the D coordinator and heir apparent at Texas. And I'm watching Oklahoma run up and down the field at the Texas State Fair, wondering when the "coach in waiting" tag will be removed from Muschamp's job description. In just his second season, Chizik has Auburn playing like life-long Auburn fans expect ; all-out, 100% and having fun. He's improved our depth tremendously and Auburn truly is a Family for the first time in a while. ALL IN indeed. It truly is GREAT to be an Auburn Tiger.

I am happy to say I was never on the Gill bandwagon and would be shocked if in fact he was the #2 choice as some people have claimed. He has not shown to be more than an average coach. He might turn Kansas around, but I think his time there will be short. He is replacing the best coach Kansas has ever had, and a program that was in the top 10 just a few years ago. Getting knocked off by Baylor or any team from the Dakotas is a going to lead to a rocky honeymoon.
Muschamp might end up being a good coach, but until he learns some self control he will have a rough road. Running up and down the sidelines screaming the f'bomb will not cut it as a head coach. He does not have the tact that people look for in a head coach.

And after watching Les Miles coaching performance, I'm doubling down on being pleased with Chizik.
The last 20 seconds of that game looked like a 3 ring circus. That was a giant cluster. UT has to be sick after blowing a game against a top 10 team over a substitution error.
Miles is like Rain Man (minus the math skills) with a leprechaun in his pocket.
Great post Ace! I'd add one more sentence in there......
Jay Jacobs, who took a lot of unwarranted verbal abuse from some of the faithful during the coaching transition, deserves a HUGE pat on the back for the unpopular decision he made about 20 months ago. Given where we were then to where we are now? WOW! Rate that one if you can on a one to ten scale?
Isn't hindsight great? Thanks again Mr. Jacobs!
