Cheap NYC Plane Tickets

  • I need some help. Im planning a possible surprise trip to NYC for my wife, our 3 year old and I. Anybody know the best place to find "affordable" plane tickets to NYC? Priceline, Expedia, etc? Anybody have any other suggestions on planning a trip to NYC?

Member of search committe to Pat Dye - "How long will it take you to beat Alabama?" Pat Dye - "60 minutes."

  • Not sure if you are in a city that has Southwest service. They are they most economical & fairest airline (no pun) in the business. I fly into Newark all the time and take train into Manahattan. Much cheaper the a cab fare from La Guardia and Newark is just easier and cleaner to fly in and out of.

  • Naturally the pricing depends on what airport you are flying into and out of and the dates. The websites are interchangeable for the most part, but check more than one. I flew into JFK from Pensacola on South West and out of Islip to Birmingham on Delta in the past month. Both tickets were around $300 to $340/ea.

I haven't had much luck getting cheap airfares, mainly because I don't like layovers, but
I have had very good luck getting Hotels in NYC for very good prices using Priceline.

  • I got a pretty good price from expedia on a round trip there not too long ago on a quick booking. I think I paid $250 (delta) for a weekend (early friday to mid-day sunday) round trip from Hartsfield in Atlanta to La Gaurdia in NY. There were some cheaper ones for sure if you book it a little ahead of time and have flexible times of arrival/departure.

Honestly if you just check with the airline companies you can just about always get just a competetive rate as you can with one of the "discount" sites, because they always make you pay some kind of BS service fee. Same goes with Hotel bookings
