BP knows how to coach, but will players still respect him and want to play for him? Is he now so tainted that the X's and O's don't matter? That what he's done in the past he can never do again. If your claim to fame is that you know how to teach people how to play offense, what happens when the people your trying to teach dont respect you and refuse to listen to you? Can you still be effective? I say no.
I think he would have to address his past on day one. Admit to the things he did. Admit that his choices were what they were....stupid. Admit that those choices were not tolerated by his employer and that he paid for his mistakes.
Then explain how those experiences changed him, how he grew from them, and how they can help him lead and grow them as men too.
In other words, if he takes it head on, he can use it and earn respect. If he avoids it and ignores it, then what you say could be possible.
