  • Maybe this coming weekend will be fun also. The basketball "defections" took away some of the luster. Are Auburn fans eternal optimists or do we expect bad things in basketball and baseball?

    Better days are ahead.

Good stuff this morning. Thanks for filling in admirably!

He is back in an admin role like he was when Chiz first arrived.

  • Bryan, really giving you big encouragement this morning on how well you did in the blog. Really no surprise to us who think you always do a fine job. You have an eye for creativity , thoroughness and always seem to be positive without being sappy. I also appreciate your patience that comes through even when I ask a dumb question. We are grateful to have you on the team with PM.

Lolley and Roof were bad, bad coaches. Roof is now gone and Lolley needs to be as far away from the program as he can be. By far the WORST d back coach in Auburn football history..........

  • Don't forget about Tracy Rocker in the coaching tree.

  • The previous regime did leave a mess for Chizik to correct and Coach Chizik and his staff have made remarkable progress with correcting the course of Auburn Football. The effort hasn't been throttled back, nor should it be, although it may be of it's own accord as less can be offered in early playing time as the cupboard becomes abundantly supplied. Another feature we can expect is that freshman class help in filling spots will become less a practice hopefully because the recruits are becoming less needed to fill vacancies at positions short of talent. A healthy program has positions filled by returning starters, experienced backups, and physically mature, seasoned men, ready to meet the expectations for which they were recruited. Those athletes trump freshmen every time and we aren't there yet. Chizik's efforts haven't dinminished either. Most of us haven't felt this way about the Auburn Program since coach Dye made his mark in the early eighties. We're grateful for what AU has done for its students, yes. But the Football Program is what is nationally noted.

Oops, I did forget. That first staff was together for two years before Rocker left for the NFL.

  • Bryan has received many complements regarding his blog today. Why not? His effort today is a superb offering. He is no doubt being influenced by a master reporter as we all should be. My own efforts are hardly noticed but darn I'm trying. PM is the sports writers icon of interest and ethics, and we all should take advantage of what is ours. I hope PM is resting and not ill. AUC is Marshall and without him will surely suffer.

Not going to argue with you on this one, but I will add that he was the only coach around when Chizik took the job. He and Chizik basically recruited on their own for a couple of weeks to keep kids committed. I think he helped keep Lutzy! Got to give the man some credit.

"Bad, bad" coaches and "worst coach in history" don't win 30 games, BCS Championship, SEC Championship and two bowl games. Roof and Lolley coached a defense that had issues with talent, depth, injuries and a hurry-up offense that rarely gave them a break. The only DB drafted out of the secondary in last 3 years was Walter McFadden in 2010.

One of the points I was trying to make in the blog was that these coaches should be appreciated for their hard work and accomplishments at Auburn, especially Lolley who has been here for more than a decade, and not treated in such a disrespectful manner.

The first week or two was basically Chizik, Lolley and Jimmy Perry on the road trying to hold the 2009 class together and evaluate and recruit as many prospects they could find.

Sorry you feel that way. But to disrespect our coaches in such an unprofessional manner makes me wonder if you even understand football. Based on your idiotic post, I think not.

I agree with you Army- And with BM- Bad bad awful worst in school history with 30wins an SEC championship and a BCSNC....If thats what you call bad i want to BE AWFUL!!!! Misserable...Maybe that will produce anotehr SCE and BCSNC....

Some folks lack of football konwledge and understanding that coaches dont go out and miss tackles. Coaches dont get faked out by the QBs eyes. Coaches dont get burned by a dude that is runnin a 4.3 when his best is a 4.7. Bad coaches dont mis fit line calls.

But it is what it is. To say I didnt have doubt about Roof and Lolley would be out of line. But you cant argue with FACTS. And FACT is...Those two coaches shut down Bama in the second half of a Transcending iron bowl...and also shut down one of the offenses in CFB history for a 22-19 WIn in the BCSNCG!!! And that my friends says alot about these two guys...ALOT!!!
