The people Blakely lived with pushed him to Florida. After he decided to transfer and left UF, they basically disowned him and he had to find another place to stay while he looked for a new school.

Why is it these kids seem to be living with people who have an agenda? Is there an underground foster care system setup by alumni of these schools to identify talented athletes at a young age and "guide" them?

  • BM - Never heard of sitting our for 2 years. I thought it was 1 or 0 depending on if the lossing school releases the player or not. Can you clarify?

    Thanks and WDE!

There's a 2 year sit rule for transferring within the SEC. Mushchamp essentially is waiving the SEC restriction, it's up to the SEC office to okay that. The NCAA regulation requires a 1 year waiting period. At least that's how I understand it.

    autigergirl

  • One year for a transfer. Two years with a transfer restriction. If Florida has stated Mike couldn't go to another SEC school, he would have to honor that agreement and sit for an additional year. The SEC's transfer rule is the the same as the NCAA's. The added restriction comes when teams say a player can't go to school A or school B.

He's at Auburn now. I think he stayed with friends or high school coaches the last couple of weeks but don't know for sure.

I've heard he was staying with Ace Sanders' family.

  • Welcome to the plains Mr. Blakely.

Thats pretty trashy of the people that he lived with forcing him to go to Florida. Especially considering that they have now disowned him completely. Sometimes its the hardest thing when you find out exactly who your real friends are and who has your best interests in mind and those who pretend to be your friends in order to get what THEY want. Guess Peaches wasn't the only controller in the 2011 recruiting class. Don't these people realize that its athletes choice (Good or Bad) and if you force them into YOUR decision then it will affect them mentally because they may never feel confortable where you force them to go, and lets face it, If he's not comfortable then he won't play nearly as well as he can. Truly sad....

Don't worry Mike, Auburn has a home for you. Welcome to the family!

Without a release, transfers within the SEC would have to sit out two years and the first year they can't be on scholarship. It's not something that many players are willing to do.

But why would Ace Sanders family demand that Mike go to Florida? crackwhip

  • I'm glad he came to Auburn. The last former Florida player who made it to The Plains turned out pretty good...

I liked this guy all along as a recruit and I really expected him to sign with Auburn originally. This actually mends a hole in my confidence in Auburn's recruiting efforts because I thought they let this one slip. It is sad how guardians (see Brent Calloway) can put excess pressure on a young man.

What makes you think what's on this board is gospel? This is discussion board. Bryan Matthews and Philip Marshall write what they know and are good at seperating opinion from fact. If you think the world of football is static and unchanging then perhaps you shouldn't go to boards where people share opinions. Unless Gene Chizik himself starts commenting on these threads we can only speculate and the writers can only go with what they are told by their sources. Things change, bro, that's life. Ease up.

  • yeah i would say the last florida player we had was pretty darn good lol. Welcome mike. look forward to seeing u in 2012. BM how many other top auburn prospects have narrowed their list? with auburn in the mix? i know thats a broad question
