My understanding, though I haven't seen it in writing, is that it was one year's salary - $500,000.

Va Tech is only paying each the equivalent of 150K a year through the end of their respective Auburn contracts leaving us on the hook for the rest and then bumping the pay up to 400k and 275 after that.

They aren't stupid. Atleast we are getting some break on the payout. Georgia Tech hired Al Groh a couple years ago after he was fired from UVA and paid him much less than that until his buyout with UVA expired.

as much as i was anxious to see how great of an influence RB had on our recruits i am happy for the man and intrigued by HCGM's move to make Fountain do work. If GUS trusts the man I'll stand by at the ready. WDE Bring 'em in and coach 'em up!

I think Horton as RB coach can't be anything less than a HR.....Coach Fountain will have to prove himself. I trust Gus, so full steam ahead!! WDE!!

Never ceases to amaze that people think Auburn is the center of the universe! Why would Dallas or the coach need to take Auburn's recruiting class into account? They have a business to run for God's sake, and some college's recruiting class doesn't matter a hill of beans! I don't blame the coach for taking Auburn's job as insurance, because he didn't know how the NFL landscape was going to shake out, and he didn't want to take a chance on sitting a year. I would have done the same thing in his shoes.

Well put. I mean I love Auburn and everything about it, but to most people not directly tied to Auburn, Dallas Cowboys > Auburn.

With Horton's track record coaching RB's I don't think we loose anything with recruits.

The trouble is he has build up a relationship with our current recruits, so in the short run so this can't be great for Auburn with on 2 weeks left before signing. This will cost us at least one RB this year.
