Best finds, biggest misses

    u mean biggest find right?

He means the biggest miss, referring to when the Alabama schools
missed on him coming out of high school. It would be Illinois who
would be credited with the biggest hit on Prosch.

Disagree with Bates and Davis being big finds. Neither have been very good or consistent imo. Davis took a step back last year and Bates has just never been good, he's just been better then his original 2* ranking but that isn't saying very much.

Biggest find I would have say Emory Blake because he only had like 1 big offer from Texas Tech when he switched his commitment to us.

Yeah. Because who wants players that start most every game for three years.

  • Biggest miss-Trey Blackmon...or is that going too far back?

    virgil kane

  • how about two 4 star corners in the 2009 class, Reggie Taylor and Taikwon Page. Terrance Coleman another one thought would end up being good player, none of those 3 believe ever stepped on campus.

    92auman

  • Would still list Cam but without him:

    1. Emory Blake
    2. Chris Davis
    3. Brandon Moseley

    misses:

    1. Rollison
    2. Goodwin
    3. Ladarious Phillips

Two of the best players ob defense last year. Both made some bad plays but honestly our defense as a whole made plenty of mistakes. Bates has started almost every game since he got here. If we had a better player then why does bates continue to see the field? I would say that when a 2star leads the team in taxkles he is a great find

I dont think so, Id even say Davis was one of the worst. Especially in big games vs UGA, UA, and LSU. No one played well but teams picked on Davis specifically and that was plain to see. Davis let the true freshman from UGA toy with him, ran over like 3 times on one play to bamas TE, let up a big TD on a flea flicker, and couldn't even put a hand on Rueben Randle. I agreed Bates was better then his 2* ranking, but still just because we didn't have better options doesn't make him good. It means our depth at the time was terrible. Who else could we have started in his place? He did look much better in spring photos and hopefully BVG fixed his awful tackling technique but based on what he's done so far I wouldn't label neither of those guys as a good find. That's just my opinion.

I agree. I gave you +1 because people are sure to downvote it (and mine for agreeing with you), but if you go back and really look at the games and concentrate on Bates or Davis, they couldn't really argue with you. Yes, they both have played better than a 2 star, but they haven't done anything miraculous. Just because they started in a really weak defensive backfield doesn't mean they are superstars. Bates has his moments of brilliance, followed by being completely lost but he is getting better each game it seems.

Davis on the other hand...I don't get the hype on him at all. Everyone says he is our best corner, but that isn't saying much and I don't think that will be true this fall. He is hyper over aggressive which means he gets burnt on play-action all the time. Davis might have been missing his help over the top, but you can't sit there and blame the safety every time when you are getting burnt. Chris is always looking for that big hit and will get it sometimes, but he will also get burned for a TD just as often.

Off the top of my head.

Top misses: Deangelo Benton Joel Bonomolo Rozell Gayden

Biggest Gets: I like Bryans picks, and I would add Nosa Eguae to the list. He has certaintly out proformed his 3-star ranking.

i like nosa but i think is is 2nd team this year.
