This game tonight does not set up well for Auburn. Fans are really negative because the bottom fell out against Kentucky and then the updykes laid one on Kentucky last night. Believe me, I know the feeling. Vandy is 1-3 in the SEC but has lost close games to Kentucky and Ole Miss, both good teams in spite of what is said on this board. Vandy will appear 15 points better tonight than most of our fans expect. A loss tonight and the "fire this coach too" fans will be in full force. We have changed coaches enough to suspect that maybe the problem is not so much the coach as it is good basketball players just don't want to play for an SEC team that has been a doormat for pretty much of 50 years. Our program is so low that it is not going to change in one or two years. I have been disappointed because CTB has had so much attrition from the players he has recruited. However, he is clearly making progress on the recruiting front and I believe he will make us a contender if he doesn't get discouraged and leave because our fan base has unrealistic expectations. A win tonight would be great medicine for the program.

I also agree and disagree with Rob. This group is a lot of seniors. Lebo recruited seniors. And yes, it's Barbee's third year. But Lebo didn't recruit many talented players as you can see. And I don't remember that many talented high school players looking Auburn's way before Barbee got here. That's beginning to happen now which causes for slight optimism. But I understand your frustration. Losing sucks, ESPECIALLY losing to a team by 20 points at home and that same team gets beat by Alabama. But I don't think Auburn is a quick fix like a lot of other teams.

Interesting points by a lot of posters. I do have one very simple question.
If Gus is in year three will we give him a pass by saying he is using Chiz less talented players? I say no. Three years in and we still have a walk on starting PG that has a worse shot than I do. And has an average handle on the ball. There are prolly better PGs at the student Act center playing RIGHT NOW!
And lets remember. the talent level is no longer Lebos issue. The kids that TB has recruited and then sent away...were his recruits. So that would beg the question of why did we recruit them in the first place?
We get 4-5 new recruits every year correct? There are only 12 players on the team at any given time correct? So this is where I struggle mightly with the understanding that we are almost starting a brand new basketball program?
$92,000,000 Arena. And still losing to teams by 20+ points.
It just doesnt make sense anymore.

Is being .500 in league play unrealistic? That's all I want... But do not see it happening.
I don't have lofty goals for this basketball team as I ave seen it too many times not perform to a level that makes it warrant a high goal set. But we are looking at the most sr laden team in conf. And that gets us blown the eff out at home? Yes that is what that gets us!
