Bama gray shirts?

  • Just found out that Brad Bozeman, who had ACL surgery last fall has received notice that he won't be allowed to sign and report with his class. He was first offered by AU, but is from a staunch Bama family, has always dreamed of playing for Bama, etc., and committed instantly when Saban offered. He never looked anywhere else and was re-habbing way ahead of schedule. His mom is reportedly very upbeat about him having to either pay his own way or wait till Jan. 2014 to sign. What is in that uat kool aid?

ESPN report is that Saban refused to answer how many they gray shirt . This reminds me of the bear signing lots of players he did not need just to keep them from competing against him. I hope we never have any coach who would lead a kid on all during the time he could be at least getting to travel on officials to only mistreat him this way.

spuat football is a business decision; no emotion, no ethics, no honor code. The accounting bottom line is a winning profit, nothing more or less. Once you realize this you will understand the total lack of allegiance to anyone or anything that does not enhance the bottom line. The players accept it and, sadly, so do their families. I am unaware of another program with such a robotic approach to "winning", if you call that mentality winning,

It is pretty easy to see how many greyshirts. On signing day, if they dont sign an LOI, then they are a greyshirt. With the new SEC rules, if they sign an LOI, they cant against the class total.

I think their last actual greyshirt was John Parker Wilson.

I Think the last one we had was Robert Cooper.

  • I know of a kid 10 years ago who was offered a scholly to Stanford but turned it down for an invited walk on at Gumpville. He ended up at Jax St., he was 6'4" 290 and scored 34 on ACT, but bammer cult was too much to resist

William vlachos was a Greg shirt that went on to start several years for them. Barrett Jones moved to center last year to replace him. He told me one time that he wanted to come to Auburn his whole life but never was offered. Wouldn't be the route for me but some make it work I guess.

He originally was a greyshirt, but was given full ride by summer due to non qualifiers.
