Gus is simply refusing to buy into the "It's gonna take a long time to build up the program" that many believe. We have a legit shot to end up with "3" JuCo players who are #1 at their position....along with several other highly rated players....not gonna get too far out there with bold predictions or anything, but 2013 will go a "LOT" better than many of our naysaying foes believe....we may not be ready to compete for the West, Conference, or BCS Titles....but we'll be competitive in 'EVERY' game....WAR EAGLE!!

    Great post.
My feelings exactly. Gus is recruiting needs for his system and guys that he feels comfortable with. I did not expect him to keep all of the previous staffs recruits because these guys committed to a position coach and they are gone now. I am glad Gus has his own opinions on who fills those needs best and gets who he thinks will make us winners again quickly.
    War Damn Gus!!!!

OK, I'm going out on a limb and predict that you appear to have lost your mind. Have you looked at our schedule? Gus has my admiration for the effort he is making to get "up and running". He has much, much more work to do, from this point onward. I wish him well. But, to put out on the field the dominant team you are dreaming of is, frankly, going beyond the probable. We may vastly improve on the woeful edition that Scott Loffler assembled, on O. I must tell you that we have serious D issues (and in this league - I'm still for Jay to start looking into a move) SERIOUS D is required.

Totally disagree with your assessment. Just my opinion but I think Gus will now hire the right defensive coaches(probably T Rock) now that there is a dead period, and the defensive recruits will start to come in the fold either from Juco ranks or high school. The offensive system that Gus will run does not require a dominant Defense, more likely we will win games 42- 24, 35-17, 38-28. We are not going to be dominant on defense this year, but i expect we will be dominant on offense if not this year certainly in the very near future.

  • If you have an offense that can,t make a 1st down , better have dominant defense .

    bar fly

  • We will score points, scoring usually follows moving the chains.

Hope to have a new Megabord by Friday that will have most of those.

Is a Megabord kind of like a Smorgasbord, just bigger?

  • I really think were gonna score pts next season.

Depending upon how recruiting goes, the defense could be very young but dramatically improved too.

You heard anything about Pat Martin or Marcus Hardison?

Hardison yes. Haven't heard much on Martin yet but I know Auburn is looking hard at several JUCO safeties.

  • Have you heard anything about Brandon King LB out of Kansas, I believe. He got offered by Ole Miss last weekend. Looks like a great prospect.

What two do we have that have proven they can run his offense?

    None.

  • My take on signing JUCO players:

Reasons Malzahn might sign JUCO players. 1) Not knowing how many H.S. recruits will be academically ineligible in the fall. JUCO players can enroll in January and participate in spring practice. 2) Talented players at winning JUCO programs usually make good D-1 players. They already know how to win at a higher level of competition. 3) A JUCO player can play right away. He is expected to be better than anyone else on the roster at his position.

Reasons Malzahn might not sign JUCO players. 1) Some are journeymen. Some have poor academic or personal histories. (You think they chose to go the JUCO route?) 2) Signing too many JUCO players gives the impression nobody wants to play for your school. 3) More than likely a JUCO player will be gone after one year.

A coaching change can create a demand for short-term players to come in and contribute right away. Most JUCO players will come from quality JUCO programs and will become quality players at Auburn. I believe Coach Malzahn knows the JUCO players that will help AU become a better football team and I am confident he will get them.

Are you really asking because you don't know or are you just a Frazier hater. btw I see what you did there jumping from does GGM have anyone in mind to do we have a PROVEN quarterback to run this offense. Let's think about that for a minute... when was the last time we ran this offense without significant meddling from former coach chizik...that would be game 1 of 2010. That being the case how could we have a proven quarterback in this system?

My point is that Frazier will likely be the man as he has significant experience and success at the high school level in this system. If he is not the man, it will be because Wallace worked his butt off and beat Frazier out. Guess what? If that happens I can assure you we are in good hands. Stop with the negativity about proven quarterbacks. I think Frazier is going to turn a lot of of heads in this offense. We will see but like I said, if Wallace beats him out we will be just fine. That kid has a head for the game

  • I think the Juco route will work with the players being kicked off team & etc so the numbers will add up in the end.
