    Relax buddy. He did what he could do within the constraints of the position of OC for Gene Chizik. If you can't tell by the staff he's already assembling that this will be a different type of regime, then you don't want to see it.

    Or...he really believes that he has a better understanding of the situation than CGM. (Which I highly doubt by the way)

    While I don't like the place we are in now, Vandy does not kick our ass on a regular basis. Sadly enough Vandy has a winning record against Auburn overall, but most of those wins came from pre 1950. We are 13-2 against them since 1955 .....

    Brian, looking at the players from '12, I really don't see any names that jump out at me as leaders (maybe Dismukes on O). None of the returners, regardless of the number of stars by their names, played with the passion that I could honestly say they are shoo in for starters in '13. If at some point in the near future you find the time can you break down our roster. I know it is thin, and I know there are a lot of guys who didn't put in the work that they needed to get ready to play at the SEC / Auburn level. I am hoping this coaching staff comes out with the toughness, passion and discipline it is going to take to get these guys into playing shape. Whether they (players) realize it or not it is time to get the mind set they need to play an entire game.

    Dismukes hasn't been a leader, yet. Mason has. Wallace may not have star qualities, but he has shown leadership qualities beyond his years.

I posted that Chiz can keep as quote all year as he wants, but when the season starts, we the fans will judge what we like and don't like. Well, the fans spoke and Chiz, just 20 months after hoisting the Natty trophy, is history! I know almost every big time donor, I see them at functions I am invited to like at the Presidents mansion 2 weeks ago, at donor parties the day before bowl games, on game days, etc, and they are fans just like we are. The fans control the bottom line. What got Chiz fired was fans voting with their wallets. Believe what you like, but JJ would have never fired his friend if we the fans hadnt spoken up. JJ is a friend of mine also for around 15-20 yrs.

    The players on the current roster should be ashamed that Coach Malzahn are bringing in new guys from junior colleges. It will be interesting to see how many of the current players will answer the challenge or roll over. At least that's the way I would look at it if I were a safety, linebacker, or D Lineman on the team now.

    They should have played harder last year, if being ashamed bothered them. When you look that bad you are saying, in effect, that you have given up. The pros don't want those kind of players; they want fighters. Harsh as it seems, my guess is that Malzahn doesn't want that level of performance either. PM is predicting significant attrition and only time and some hard knocking will tell who steps up from the current squad. I wasn't on last years team, and never understood what caused the complete collapse toward the end. Getting whipped by superior atheletes was a major factor and the "unworkable schemes" was another - I suppose.

    I agree that Gus is on the clock, but I personally don't see that any of this was Gus's fault to begin with. We won a lot with Gus on the AU sidelines.

    Well said! +1, AU49. I will never understand why everyone loves to stargaze so freaking much. For every "can't miss" prospect there is a washout, and there are plenty of lightly-recruited players/former walk-ons whose names we will always remember. I realize that talented players are needed to succeed at the highest level, but plenty of terrific players over the years were not highly-rated coming out of high school yet had talent and heart. Player development matters. Coaching matters!

  • 89, a lot of what you have said is true and most of us (if not all) agree. But, my friend, tone goes a long way toward establishing where you are coming from. Your tone was not civil, it wasn't offered in such a way as to have us believe that you recognized that change is being brought to the Plains. Rather, you came across as one who has just lost his job at AU, and was standing on the sidelines pointing your finger at the one who was replacing you leveling a threat. I don't believe that was your intent. You can get a lot more agreement from folks if you don't go around poking your figurative finger in their chest. Chill just a tad, we are on the same side.
