Auburn's Unclaimed National Championships

  • ColaChiver said...

You guys keep saying that, but it's not true. Everyone knows good and well who the outright champion is (except bama fans) and you guys keep yelling that to somehow ease your mind about Bama's success. Who won the National Championship for the 2010 season? Bet you don't think think that's just opinion now do you? Auburn fans wanting to claim those titles is just pathetic and puts us on the same level with the bama fans that we make fun of daily for counting championships that they didn't win.

There again your argument makes no sense again you not wanting to claim what is rightfully owed to the Auburn family

Exactly. If we just came out of left field and did this, we would just look like whiny little kids. The Little Brother Syndrome in this thread is astounding.

Who are you worried about looking like a whiny little kid to? You saying others have LBS is quite ironic isn't it?

I really can't believe so many Auburn fans who make fun of Bama on a daily basis about their randomly claimed National Titles want to claim these BS titles. Trying to claim a national title on a year where we were on probation? Wow.

Alright you go and tell all those players that played on those Auburn teams that won those titles and tell them that those titles are BS see how long you live and their not random titles either. You guys can hate me all you want but I'm still going to educate the Auburn family on what is rightfully owed to us until I change the entire Auburn family. Another thing you guys might want use to Auburn fans/alumni like because we are the younger fans/alumni and we will not give in on this point or to bama and their inbred nation. Oh I almost forgot Auburn is the oldest school in the state and one of the oldest in the southeast. We were here 30-35 years before bama and that inbred nation ever thought about being around.

Hey its people like you in the family that why we are in this debate because you people don't want to claim what is rightfully owed to the Auburn family. Your line thinking is the that is stupid and the dumbest ever!

Ok, so by your reasoning and logic you can never make fun of bama claiming their 14 ever. No, people trying to claim titles that we didn't play for is pathetic and childish. It puts us on the same level with the Bama fans we all make fun of for claiming 14 titles. Honestly, how does no one see the irony in this?

They didn't win those titles and they know they didn't. If we didn't play in the recognized championship game, we didn't win it. Plain and simple. Amazing how you people make fun of Bama for doing this and then turn around and want to do the EXACT same thing. But ok, you go ahead and claim away and look just like an ignorant fan all you want. I'll claim our two legitimate titles and be proud of them and the fact that not everyone can say they have one.

Everything you and the future said to me I will take as compliments that's fine if you want to laugh at, make fun of me, and anything else you want but you two need to do your own history on this subject. But you two and everyone else needs to remember this it has nothing to do with about little brother syndrome or measuring up its a reckoning against Auburn and its family that needs to be set right...

Auburn fans. Please keep bumping the link above. We need to claim these and get the credit we deserve. Someone add link if it doesn't work.

You'd have to pay me to read that garbage. Writing a book about "unclaimed" championships is nothing but loser talk.

Its kinda like telling a story of that time when you "almost" hooked up with that really hot broad. Waste of time, bruhs.

why not claim it? Bama still claims the championship for the year the NCAA made them forfiet all their games. You ever heard the old saying tell a lie enough and it becmes true? That is how Bama is getting an abundance of their press.

I don't see why anyone would have a problem with claiming the two seasons we went undefeated (93-2004). We consistently took down powerhouses week after week. IMO the playres need to be recognized as national champions, which they truly deserve. Before you start saying, "we shouldn't want to be like bama" blah blah blah, we went undefeated in the sec for goodness sake. How many of there crazy clamed MNC's did they actually go undefeated? Anyway, whatever Auburn decides I look at those teams as National Champions because they were the best team in the country those two years!

  • I saw that! they said UA had 9 national championships and Notre Dame had 8. I played it back to hear it again. Then laughed out loud thinking of all the Bama fans who must have taken to the phones to call ESPN to set them straight. Either they clean up their numbers or everybody should adopt their counting system, in which case Auburn has 9 NC' s.

Good counter-argument. Just saying I don't make sense and then not offering a point holds a lot of weight. How do you figure they are owed to Auburn when we didn't even play for them there, guy? You are acting just like the Bama fans that claim titles they didn't win.

Um because we were on probation in 93..... How are you going to try and claim 2004 because USC went on retroactive probation for that year, yet try and claim a year we were on probation. Yeah. That makes tons of sense.

That's BAMA. Not Auburn. If you want to be on the same level with those morons that claim titles that aren't theirs, you be my guest. Again with the hypocrisy on this board. You all sit there and laugh all day at Bama for claiming 14 and now you are wanting to do the the EXACT. same. thing.

For starters, I don't care what is claimed by whom. But I have a question. Are you sure that the ones who want to claim additional titles are the same ones who laugh at bammers for claiming 14? It may very well be two different groups. After all, there is not just one Bodda Getta opinion on these subjects. Each individual has his own assorted opinions on these topics. I, for one, don't associate with bammers and therefore have never argued with them about mnc's. I have never made fun of anyone for claiming a mythical title. It is mythical after all. They can claim unicorns too for all I care.

  • The national championship system in college football is a joke. Preconceived notions, preseason polls, team and conference affiliations and bias, money, media-driven propoganda... have traditionally had too much say in the process. Case in point is the 2004 team. I watched every Auburn game and ESPN's wishy washy responses to them. If you think that USC was outright the better team, then you weren't paying attention.

I don't need someone else's opinion to decide for me who is the national champion. Since NCs aren't determined on the field, I will choose my own. Additionally, I want to know about these seven National Championship worthy teams. I look forward to reading the book.

On a second note, Auburn is way behind the curve on the perception war in college football when it doesn't have to be. It's history should be included with the best programs and traditions that college football has to offer. Changing the national perception would be invaluable to the football program. Just ask Bama; they do it better than anyone. To get back to the top, they were "back" countless times on the cover of Sports Illustrated, won mythical recruiting national championships, and proclaimed Saban the best thing ever. Their counting additional NCs is all part of their strategy. The sports industry is inundated with Alabama journalism graduates that put an Alabama spin at every opportunity. That's why their recruiting violation rumors are barely a blip on the radar - Julio Jones fishing trip, players wearing suits, recruits being steered to change schools, etc. Meanwhile, Auburn is still suffering from the unprecedented and unwarranted media onslought regarding Cam Newton.

You don't even have to proclaim these teams as national champions. Proclaiming them as National Championship worthy, however, does not sacrifice integrity. Notre Dame does not claim all of the championships that they could in their football program. They do, however, still mention their other championship-worthy teams. I recognize that Auburn does not have a journalism department. Though with all of the money and prestige generated by college football, one would think that Auburn would take advantage of its impressive history and challenge those that dare purport that Auburn is anything less than a top-tier program. Fight the perception war and create advantages for the program.

  • umm.... same way other schools claim them when they went undefeated. Why are you so scared that Auburn might be compared to Alabama?I don't care what people say, I know Auburn is a special place that is totally different than that turd hole asross the state. Claim the national championships because the team that busted their a$$ on the field deserve them!!! Not act like they dont desereve them because you are scared it will make us look more like bama!

I dont think you are getting the picture. People make fun of them claiming national championships when they lost 2 or more games and didn't even finish in the top 10. Heck they claim some after losing their bowl game! That is totally different than finishing the season undefeated like we did. If you can't see a difference in that then there is no point even debating this topic with you. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
