I think I would defer to Ellis Johnson on matters of talent evaluation. As seen last year, Auburn could use athletes. Why do you think the recruitment of this player automatically means Auburn won't get any, if not all 3 or the others mentioned?

We are a good bit behind other SEC schools in numbers; 3 juco enrolled, 12 commits, 2 of which are kickers, and 2 or 3 a little soft, so our staff is trying to close the numbers gap. Other commits are fair game and we have a good sales package.

My apologizes to the Cothren kid. I never said he would not contribute, I am suggesting that Auburn needs immediate difference makers on the DL in this class. Two DL maybe. If the talent we have on campus now could only live up to their capabilities, then Auburn could be very selective at the DL. I think good coaching could have Auburn top 4 in the league.
I expect this staff to evaluate differently, but I would still have to think that Lawson, Adams, Bowers, and Liner are the preferred candidates. If it is offensive for me to see these four as superior talent to Cothren, then AUC is offensive for using a star system.
I am excited about Auburn's direction and could not be more excited with this staff. What happens from this point in recruiting will be fine with me. I am not going to pump sunshine about DL, Lawson, RF, Adams, or Cothren. Receiving an offer is special to a recruit. Cothren and his family should be very proud.

I think recruiting services have inflated 40 times so much that people have forgotten how fast a sub 5 sec 40 is for a big guy. Josh Bynes ran about a 4.8 40.
