  • Nice article. I really, really, really wish we could land Williams, Ward, and Diggs.

  • We will sign Williams and Ward will be a late surprise for Auburn, as Diggs will go elsewhere.

Those three would make for a great class. If AU misses out on those then it looks like leftovers for the rest of recruiting season. Hopefully there will be the usual surprises close to signing date. AU just doesn't seem to be a program that gets whoever they want quite yet. It would help to have coordinators in place, especially on offense. No one seems to know what kind of offense Coach Chizik is seeking. It looks like the coordinators may be leftovers also if hires are not made soon. It was great to win big in the bowl game, but I doubt that Virginia could beat any SEC teams except maybe KY, TN, and Ole Miss. Also, next years schedule with LSU, GA, AL, ARK, looks so tough. Georgia will have it so easy with none of the above.

  • Not sure what the deal is with OldTiger but if you are really an old tiger you certainly know we play the teams you mentioned every year, as always, and have held our own and then some over the years. You do not know that any of the "leftovers: are going to happen so why be so "glass is half empty", just saying. I may be a homer but we would be better off leaving these type of comments for Ga and Al fans to say rather than our own fans. Reminds me of a time at a Ga Tech game when we were losing and there was a fan in front of us that was so negative it was difficult to tell if he was for Auburn or against even though he had on orange and blue. Happy New Year.

#1: Our recruiting class is nationally ranked, as it was the last two years. We are barely half done, with LOTs of stars left to land out there. We always close good.

#2: We play in the SEC, so everyone's schedule is hard. Yeah, the West has been better then the East the last few years but that doesn't mean it always will be.

I really don't understand the constant use of the word "left overs." What recruit do you deem as a "left over?" I am having a hard time finding one in the last three years of recruiting and don't expect one this time either.

The deal with Old Tiger is that he is a REALLY old Tiger. I get your message, AU1980, and I would not post this to another board but this one is sort of an inside conversation between AU people. I love seeing Coach Chizik recruit all over the country, he has certainly done well. My point is, and I don't like admitting it, that AU has work to do to compete nationally year in and year out. We all love Auburn and believe in her, but we have to get more of these guys at the top of the board if we are going to develop a reputation as a team who gets who they are after. We all know how good Auburn has been, but the nation for the most part has no idea how we have dominated Alabama since the 80's. In conversations with other fans at other schools, we have to continously defend Auburn by having them just look at the record. I live in Georgia now. My point was not that the teams on our schedule were not traditional rivals whom we have done well against, but that Georgia has it easy. They made my point this year when they won the East and got whipped by LSU in the Championship game. I promise you that I was NOT the fan sitting in front of you at the GA Tech game. I am very optimistic about the direction Auburn is going. Coach Chizik is my man. I graduated Auburn many years ago and have loved Auburn for 60 years. There has never been another. It just bugs me a little to hear that Alabama has filled their class and now maybe we can pick up some recruits who are left. And yes, I'm still smarting from the Yeldon switch. It just hacks me off that Alabama people seem to think that they have some kind of right to rule football. War Eagle and All In.

  • Sorry guys, please don't jump on me. It just bothers me that we only have about 2/3 of the commitments in and other schools are filling up. I don't feel so good about these recruits teasing us, and we are all hanging around waiting to see which hat they put on at the All Star games. I like the recruits that we have in so far, but I would like to see a 5 star who everyone wants come with us. It really helps pull in others when you get a couple of big names early. I guess I long for the old days when Auburn guys grew up wanting to play at Auburn. These guys who can't make up their minds just grate on me a little. Please don't think I'm not with you guys. I'm positive. I really am.

  • Just because others are filling up does not mean AU is behind the 8-ball. We have several spots open and in on several big timers. Recruiting has changed in recent years where more players are announcing much earlier, but the basic concept of recruiting has not changed as you try to sell a 17-18 year old kid on a program. Some you win, some you lose. It has always been that way. To boo hoo over this year's class before it is done is very premature, especially they way this staff recruits. I am looking forward to the OC/DC hires and expect it to have a big impact once on the Plains.

  • Oldtiger..20 of the Top 50 prospects in the Top247 are uncommitted. What that means is that there are many very good (non leftover) players still yet to be tied to a school publicly. AU will get some of them. Relax.

  • You guys are making me feel better, except for 19auburn49, who called me a bammer. Don't you know? I ain't no bammer! I guess in this information age maybe I get a little too much information so I worry too much. As for 2nd tier comment, you and I know that AU is not second tier. Coach Chizik will appear on ESPN as a commentator for the NC game. Maybe if the nationwide audience gets to know him as we know him, Auburn will get a little more respect. Respect will also come when Auburn finishes every year in the top 10. As for recruiting, the sooner it gets over, the better. I'm ready to get them in here and start getting ready for 2012. I am really looking forward to see those freshmen and sophmores who made the big plays in the bowl turn it on next year.

  • Big dogs bark late. Always will. We are in great possition to finish stronger than anyone in the country. If you wanna follow recruiting you need the stomach to sit back and wait. We will get ours at the end of the day. I have followed recruiting closely for a pretty long time and we are currently recruiting at a level that AU has not been at in a while, if ever. Just relax and be patient. They will come home when the dinner bell rings.

wow I could definitely live with that! But Ward looks very iffy now with his brother also a walk on at Ole Miss and apparently a scholly deal for BOTH if he signs - lot of pressure to stay in state.

  • I'm a Dye-hard Auburn fan. I love to keep up with recruiting, and have since we were recruiting Alan Evans and Jim Thompson. There is almost too much information these days. Sometimes its best just to hear when we get a guy, not all the "ones who got away."

Bama will sign their share of 'Lectron Williams' and Pedro Cherrys of the world. Auburn will too. But you just can't get too excited unless a guy is a 5 star, then you don't really know.

With all that said, after the Mike Dyer class, as well as the one with Keihl Frazier, it just "feels" like this year is going to be half as rich as those two classes. I hope I'm just expecting too much and/or I am just impatient. Time shall tell.

We tagged six in a row on Bama with Tubbs recruiting...
