Auburn University Class Ring

  • First off, who on the board has one. How often do you wear it?

I didn't get around to ordering one last year when I graduated, but now I'm interested in making it happen. Does anyone know how to go about sizing the ring and placing the order?

I got mine at Ware's. 1971, It was the first one they sold made by Gold Lance. I have worn it daily for 41 years......often get stopped by someone wanting a second look at it. Have been asked if it was some sort of a "football" ring from AU. It seems to be a little dressier than the typical Balfour rings, but whatever you choose, get what you want and wear it proudly. kk

  • I got mine in 1972 and wear it all the time. I chipped the stone earlier this year and with it lost part of the gold "U" in the logo, but it still clearly says AU!

  • I recieved my Auburn Class Ring in 1979. I wear it every minute of every day. It is one of my most prized possessions. I have had 2 wedding rings but only 1 AU class ring.
The diamond fell out a few years ago and I had it replaced (at no cost) and in 1981 while in chest deep waters in the Gulf it came off as I threw a frisbee. Spent the next 3 hours looking for it.

I didn't get mine when I first graduated in '06; but a few friends did. At first, didn't really bother me... But as I started working and noticed who did and didn't wear their class rings, I found it to be a bit of a badge of honor.

In the end, my wife bought me just the traditional balfour ring for our wedding. I wear it proudly everyday and will do so forever. WDE.

  • I have worn my ring from 1964 without ever taking it off! It is worn significantly now, but I wouldn't trade it for anything and expect it to be on my finger at my demise. It is not just a symbol of my individual accomplishment as an engineer but more significantly as pride in my university and the memories that were gained there.

You can buy one at the Balfour's website or on campus.

  • I graduated in June 1964. I lost my Auburn University class ring out working in backyard when took it off and put it in shirt pocket rather than my pants pocket. 25 years later I got a call from the next door neighbor I had at the time and he told me the people living in home found my ring when they were out working in the yard. Did I rejoice! I wear it everyday.

  • Received mine as a graduation gift from the family during my senior year in 2009. Not sure what the rings used to look like, but there is an official ring now that students can buy. On the outside they all look the same, but you can get it engraved on the inside. Thought it was really cool that the university tells the students to wear the ring with the AU logo on the stone facing yourself until you graduate. Once graduated, you can wear the ring facing the opposite direction symbolizing that you are prepared to take on new challenges in the world.

I wear it most days at work. You'd be surprised how many times I get comments on it from fellow AU grads. I try to bring it up if I see it on a coworker. Great conversation starter. Especially cool when I meet a soldier wearing one.
