This article seems pretty much dead on. I graduated in 1992, so I've seen three truly great Auburn teams in my life: 1983, 1993, and 2004, and a bunch of good ones. But never a national champion. I said to my dad at the beginning of the season that I'd just like to see Auburn win it for once in my lifetime. Well, here they are, and it feels like a good part of the joy has been taken out of it. You know why? Not because of the media (as inaccurate and biased as some of them have been), but because we have a player who's father cheated, which means the player potentially cheated (no matter what the NCAA has found so far). Therefore, all this is tainted. If CN played for anyone else, we Auburn fans would be howling with outrage, too. Glad we're winning, but not if it comes with a price. I'd rather be the Auburn that comes close but never wins it all (and stays clean) than have tainted victories and players.

This team has "Circled the Wagons" as good as any team I have ever watched.

So...if the rest of the world wants to be against us...so be it.

As far as I'm concerned 83, 93, 04 were national champions. If you haven't noticed AU is going to be downgraded which in no small part led by uat. Goes with the territory of being nice guys. If you don't stand up for yourself people will take advantage. Au people are nice people. If you haven't noticed go to a uat, if, tn, lsu, etc game.

83, 93, 04 teams / years were fantastc. They deserve to be remembered as champions also regardless of what uat / competition say.

The '93 team was on probation for the sins of the coaching staff 89-91. Didn't say I was thankful for the probation...I said they were a great team, just like this one. But a great team isn't worth being on probation to me, and if it is to you, then you've got a screw loose. As I mentioned in my first post (which it doesn't appear that you read very closely), I've been looking forward to a national championship team for over 3 decades, but not at the expense of the intregity of Auburn University.

Someone who would argue with that is probably a fan of the Dark Side, who wants championships at all co$t$. I hope Cam is innocent, as he's the best Auburn player I've ever seen (including Bo), but I have my doubts.

All glory is fleeting. I've lived and died with the Tigers since I was a little kid in 1960 and this is the most exciting team to watch I've ever seen. I was fortunate enough to attend all the home games this year and the SECCG yesterday and there's no doubt this is an Auburn team like we've never seen before. Not the most talented but certainly the most focused and resilient. And maybe the best coaching staff from top to bottom we've ever had. You've got to give credit to Coach Tuberville and his staff for recruiting the 24 seniors on this team. Having said that, Coach Chizik and his staff may be the best at getting the team prepared each week and the best game day and half time coaching staff we've ever had.

This season is almost over. In a little more than a month we will play the last game of the season and the last in a string of three of the "most important games Auburn has ever played" I have no idea what will happen in that game. But I do know that this is an Auburn team unlike any I've ever seen and I've loved watching them, as well as agonizing over every play hoping we would not make an error that would change the course of the season. So far it hasn't happened. Last week, of course, was the ultimate. Last night was the showcase.

At midnight on January 10, 2011 this team will be in the history books, whatever happens. And the Fall of 2010 will forever be special to the Auburn family.

This team and coaches are indelibly etched in the hearts of all Auburn Family members.

Cam's dad screwed up, but you would have to be of low character to hold that against his kid. I guess this is a "sins of the father" post.

The media types need story lines..... they need a lot of them to keep the web pages full and keep people coming back. It is all about traffic. They need to create controversy and manufacture news where there is none. Look at USC and how close they were to the mainstream media, and yet nobody in the media was aware of what was going on. Does anyone think that Bush was the only player at USC that received benefits? USC was at rockstar status with an unprecedented level of media exposure. Was the media blinded by the bright lights? Were they complicit? Are they just a bunch of window-lickers who were too incompetent see what was going on?

Welcome to the age of instant communication. Events like this have happened in the past, it is just that we did not have this insane level of information (some true and some false). Look at what went on at Oklahoma under Switzer.

I honestly do believe that Cam did not know what his father did. I think the kid has realizes how lucky he is to be where he is and be as gifted as he is. I think the events at UF and his time in JUCO gave him a perspective that he needed and has made him a better person.

Not only was I there in the 80's it's my home town! AHS grad in 1979 and Auburn University 1983. I was in the second row when Pat Dye was annouced as Auburn head coach. I know more about the blue BMW's and what went on then more than you'll ever know!

My post was a direct response to your defeatist attitude and the "assumption" that we're all going to pay for this down the road! All on the morning after our young Auburn men just completed one of the finest efforts in Auburn Football history! Piss on your cornflakes another time. THIS day isn't for whinning.

I don't, NOR DO YOU, know how big a role in all this that Cecil Newton or anyone else has played. We'll all know soon enough. Until then there are enough people ready and actively condemning Auburn without your help. Take your gloom and doom to al.com.
