I know that it simplifies things when position coaches are thought of as an entity with "The Coaching Staff." But some position coaches are outstanding recruiters, some have a following that supports their coaching and the way they live, and some that just quietly do their jobs without attracting negative attention. Is it fair to talk about them as though they were like Chizik? Is it fair to think of them as terrible leaders of Auburn's young football players when they may have done nothing but lead them in the way they should go? We are told that the coordinators have not been allowed to impose their schemes the way they wished, and cerainly they have been handicapped in not being able to place position coaches that were familiar with their systems where they were needed. Perhaps not fair, but perhaps expedient. Assuming that Chizik is released, how does the hiring power deal with so many issues that have an influence on the rights of head coach candidates? I hope President Gogue doesn't think it's simple as it seems to not be at all free of sticky wickets.
