  • I know we all expect him to be a DT but the coaches were recruiting him as a DE. Does that start to change officially as he grows?

  • 277 pounds?? So he gained 22 lbs overnight?? Hope he gained 2 inches in height to spread it out. For a DT, he was kind of short to begin with. DT's should be at least 6'5', 280 lbs and QUICK. I've seen his tapes and he was very, very quick at 255 - in fact he was scary quick! But how quick will he be at 277, if still the same height? On the other hand, at 6'4/255, he would make a monster DE or LB. At his present size, can he shuck an OT from the SEC? Good thing he has another year to grow an inch or two, though most kids cease gaining height after their junior year of HS. However, I LOVE this kid's attitude. He's an Auburn man all the way, and Yoxall will figure him out. Love ya, Dee!

    There have been plenty of kids to get taller after JR year of HS. Also he doesn't need to be able to throw OTs around because he'll be a DT not DE. He never was going to be a DE. Guys don't need to be 6'5 to be a good DT either. Gabe Wright and Whitaker are neither one 6'5. Nick Fairley isn't 6'5.

  • I am pretty surprised anyone thinks he would be anything but a DT 4-3 or DE in a 3-4. 255 at a junior, with two years before he even sets foot on a campus? No other real options.

    DTs do not need to be 6'5. Glen Dorsey, Sen Marks, Suh, and countless others are under 6'5.

  • Hope you guys are right, because 6'21/2' at 277 is not very balanced, plus I suspect most of that gained weight is the wrong kind of weight, considering how quick it was attained. Way to early to speculate, of course, so we'll just let Yox work it out.

    It wasn't sudden. I just haven't updated his weight since he committed last summer, about 10 months ago. I saw him just a couple of weeks ago and he looks great.
