  • We seem to be playing pretty good ball can we pull another one out. What do they have this year?

At Arkansas, at Missouri, and at Kentucky are the toughest games remaining on the schedule. If we win at Arkansas, which I'm not expecting, it could be a really, really good year. I think we lose to Arkansas and beat Kentucky at home this week.

  • Not one person wants you to be right more than me, HorseTrainer. As for what I expect? I expect a 1.5 million dollar a year coach, with a brand new arena, to improve on the court and in the win column from the start. Does this mean go from 5-6 SEC wins a year to 15 a year in his first year? Absolutely not. What it does mean is the team steadily getting better from the first game to the last game, from year to year. IMO, until these last 4 games, it was not steady improvement, whatever the myriad of reasons. Hopefully, we have turned the corner, Barbee certainly thinks and says so. It will be interesting from here on out. One thing I am promising. If we keep winning, the arena is about to be full for the rest of the year and it will be a fun ride! No one wants that more than me, no one!

Fair enough. One thing you have in Coach Barbee is a coach that shoots straight and does not give you a bunch of coach speak. His expectations for this team are the same as you and I have. I am sure he would be the first one to say he was disappointed in the 6-7 start, but this team has improved markedly since game one. We start a walk-on point guard that has no outside shooting ability whatsoever at what could be argued is the most critical position on the court. People argue that it is Barbee's fault Wallace is his starter due to the fact he hasn't been able to land a top point guard through recruiting. May or may not be true. Quality point guards are not a dime a dozen. Supposedly, we have one coming next year. Chubb's improvement since Barbee got here has been substantial, but is Chubb the caliber of center that wins SEC championships? I hope Barbee can get the support from his own AD that he needs to add the players to fill out this team and bring AU basketball to levels we have never seen before. It is made more difficult when you can't recruit the best AAU players in your own state and that was not even in Barbee's nor Lebo's tenure. The Arkansas will be tough on the road with Kentucky looming. If we can squeak out a win in the hills that arena will rock Saturday night. It should rock whether we win or lose tomorrow night it is after all Kentucky. They are to basketball what Alabama fans are to football.

Sorry to go JaDennis on you with the long reply...lol.

  • Barbee is the perfect fit, if he wins. The point guard thing is somewhat his fault. Should have at least 2 point guards signed by now that can beat out a walk on. Nothing against Wallace at all. He does everything he can. I believe the place is full Sat whether we win or lose Wed. I do believe we need to win one of the next 2 to keep the fan support up like it will be Sat. 2 losses in a row would put us back at the starting block. It's time for Barbee to start winning. Kentucky is as off as they have been in years, that would be a big win for our program regardless of what happens Wed. I'll be there Sat with my family.

So, fire Barbee then what? If you aren't offering a solution I have a hard time really listening to you. Were you a Lebo fan?
