  • Would now maybe be a good time to take advantage of this clean break and replace ROD B and Stan W. Great guys im positive, I just never cared much for them as a team on air.. Am I the only one. I bet Charlie is ready to come back. Fire Away

I won't throw daggers your way for throwing something out there, but i really think that if you take a min and listen to some of the personalities calling games for other schools, such as UGA and UF, Ms State, Ga Tech specifically, you would then be happy we have Rod and Stan.twocents

Due to the job I"ve had for a few years (I'm recently retired) I have had to listen to Auburn games a great deal, Esp. during the 2010 championship season.

I can tell you that this is NOT by choice, I'd rather have been watching this on TV or be there but work would not allow it some of the time.

They (Bramblett and White) are just awful. They are very critical of the officals and of our team. Excessively Critical. It's just ridiculous.

EXAMPLE: Trey Mason's 86 yd run against A&M (Alabama). He (Bramblett) starts off with "It's McCalebb in the open, 40, 50, ) and it was only at the far 20 yard line that he corrects the name. It's damned impossible to follow his yardage and markings of where the ball is.

I'd like to keep "Q", good insight and information from the sideline.

Auburn Network in general stinks, Mike Hubbard needs to have this "money rug" jerked out from under him. I live outside Birminham (Inverness/Oak mt) and you cannot get a decent radio signal esp at night. Get out and find some damn stations. I understand that Bammer has Jox, the strongest signal, but there are others, AM and FM.
and if i hear the "La La La La," Regions commercial again I"m gonna find a Bama fan to beat on 0ut of frustration. LOL

Are you still okay with Tigerwalk or do you want to break up with her too? I'm sure the band would leap at the chance for a new fight song, and don't forget that we could always break out the orange jerseys...

Correct. Ours are much more professional. I was listening to the lsu-ark game while on a road trip a couple of weeks ago. I have sirius so each radio broadcast was available on a different channel so I listened to one side in the 1st half and the other during the 2nd half. Both were pretty amateurish compared to ours.

I grew up and loved our guys in the 60s (can't think of both of their names, the color guy's name was Charlie Davis) Gary Sanders in the 70s and, of course Jim Fyffe, who ushered in the Pat Dye era starting in 1981 until his death in 2003 and who has been named one of the top 10 all-time college football radio announcers, paired with Pat Sullivan, Charlie Trotman and Stan White. There will probably never be another Jim Fyffe, who was able to pull off being totally professional, even-handed and all-Auburn simultaneously.

We've been blessed over the years to have announcing teams that never succumbed to the temptation to be "homers" like most of the other broadcasters I've listened to.

No reason you'd be banned for that. I like those guys, but I really don't have an opinion because I don't hear them very often.

  • I kind of (and just kind of) get it with Stan, but why Rod? I think they do a pretty good job overall.

  • And better than the NASCAR / UAT Network with Eli Gold any day! Although I will say that I do miss Snake Stabler as their color guy. He was quite funny.

  • One more thing - the basics. Not too long ago my wife and I were driving to the Auburn game that day and I started listening to a rival team's game on the radio. I said to my wife "let's see how long it takes them to give us the score". It took 20 minutes, until the end of the quarter to find out the score or how much time was left and there were several commercial breaks during that time, where usually our guys will give that information going into and coming out of commercials. These guys spent most of their time giving their opinions about various topics, building up their players, speculating about what coaches were thinking, why the coach decided to do this or that. They must not have received basic training on how to do a radio broadcast of a sporting event.

Wow. It took a while for me to use to hearing Rob after Jim's passing but I don' think I have ever seen or heard someone say he and Stan should be replaced. Sounds like a Ray Perkins type move. I don't think that would be a popular move. I enjoyed CT while he was there but if I remember he left on his own in order to spend more time with his family especially on Saturdays. His lovley wife and kids sat in front of us for many years. I have enjoyed all of our radio crews as I have always listened to the broadcast while at the games or watching from home. I for one hope there is no change.
