I don't think there's anything negative about Armstead visiting this weekend. They can work out his announcement plans and enrollment plans just fine no matter what school he chooses. He's already changed his plans a number of times over the last few weeks. I consider it good for Auburn that it will be Arik Armstead's final official visit.

What if (and this is just a theory) Chizik and Co. having visited Arik in over 5 times at his home has convinced him and the family that Auburn is the correct choice. Arik wants to attend Auburn but the family says that, because Arik hasn't ever visited the campus that he needs to visit before its too late to back out and be sure of his choice. The decide to take an official and the dad comes with just to make sure his son is making the right choice. So the official visit is just to ensure Arik is making the right choice (a choice that has already been made).

I just can't decide what I feel about this timing. When I first think about it, I think there is no way he is going to visit Auburn for the first time on Friday, announce on Sunday, and enroll there on Monday. That just seems to wildly unrealistic. However, this is a huge and busy weekend for him if he is truly trying to move across country by Monday or Tuesday, it makes absolutely no sense that he would be coming to Auburn if they weren't a serious, serious contender. If it was any other weekend, I would think that he is coming for the free trip or possibly out of respect to Coach Chizik, but definitely not this weekend. I feel that I am extremely grounded with my expectations when it comes to recruiting; whenever I see a list of project commits, I automatically assume we will only sign half of them at most. However, even I am optimistic about this visit. I think the scenario listed above about this trip being nothing more than confirmation of an already made decision is about as likely as any when you really consider the timing.
