Anyone been to aTm?

  • My father and I are going to make the trip over this next year and neither of us have been before. If we get things pointed in the direction I believe that we can, it should be a great game. I've heard nothing but positive things about College Station/Bryan and I was just wondering if anyone has been or know of any must do's while there.

Yes. Go eat at Layne's chicken fingers (the old one on the west side of campus). Also, here's a good show to watch before you go.

  • If you go, stay in Houston ( Around Bush International Airport) the night before. It about 90 miles from College Station.

If you are looking for a fun local watering hole for a tasty beverage, hit up the Dixie Chicken

I would suggest staying in the woodlands, a bit closer and has some very nice places to eat, shop, etc. I wouldn't stay around the airport itself, kind of a rough area. Unless you're just in and out.

    Definitely do Layne's.

Also try FreeBirds Burritos (several locations), and a burger from either Koppe (ko pay) Bridge or Chicken Oil.

Other things to see on campus...

The Century Trees....huge tree in the middle of campus...pretty amazing.

The Silver Taps Memorial....a memorial for any student that has died while enrolled at A&M.

The Bonfire statues....memorial to the 1999 accident that claimed the lives of 12 Aggies. It was a 90 year old tradition.

And be sure to say "Howdy" to anyone you see. Great folks there in College Station, you should enjoy it. I know I will.
