    Ladies and Gentlemen,

    I know this is off topic, but this story has really moved me and many others on this particular community website deeply. Please take just 5 minutes out of your day to read and I promise you that you will be inspired and have all of your faith restored in humanity.

    TheChive.com's original goal for donation from thechive community was $30,000 to help this guy put a down payment on his dream cabin. An hour later, over $50,000 has been raised and the donations are still pouring in to this guy. I am not pleading with anyone to make a donation, but just reading this 1 in a billion human being's story is such a great thing!

    Note: TheChive.com is an internet site with a close-knit community which is mostly funny/awesome pictures, but there are also posts like this for philanthropic purposes.

  • Thanks for this. I hope this couple gets their cabin and our country stops making war on a constant basis. Does anyone think we have or will acomplish much in Afghanistan? What a sad waste of a good man's future ablilities.

    Come on man, don't focus on the negatives...this story is about human triumph in the face of adversity. It's a beautiful story.

    He chose to serve his country. He wasn't drafted. Many of those guys want to fight. I support his decision to join and I support all others. He doesn't feel upset about going to war so why should you? All people that join now understand that they will go to war when they join.
