A tribute to Mr. Penny? Need suggestions, advice....

  • I was just thinking about Mr Penny and his extreme love and dedication to Auburn University and its football program.

I was thinking that a great way to honor Mr. Penny would be to permanently reserve his seat in the student section. By this, I mean it would be marked off and have a placard with his name engraved on it and remain as empty seat in his honor. It could be for just one game, one season, or permanently.

Does anyone think this would be a good idea? Any other ideas or suggestions? Anyone know who to approach to get the ball rolling for something like this?

I realize that Mr. Penny didn't do much for Auburn monetarily, or as a player, etc... but he was an inspiration to the Auburn family and the Auburn community. Mr. Penny stood for everything that is right in this world and if there ever was a man who deserved such an honor, it would be him. Mr. Penny wasn't just a fan, he was a great man amongst the greatest men that have ever walked the plains. He didn't just live the Auburn creed, he breathed every word of it. At his very core was the War Eagle spirit. Mr. Penny was the epitome of the Auburn man. War Eagle, Mr. Penny. War Damn Eagle!

  • I had posted that maybe they do a penny sticker on the back of the helmet. just a regular size penny. So tv wont make a big deal out of it, but it would just show we remember and are thankful for what he meant to everyone.

  • We should do a stadium wide push up set (for those who can) before our first home game.

I saw that this morning too. However, the last report that I had read when posting my OP said that he had passed. That was the last official statement released before I posted. My apologies. And yes, I agree, we should all pray for Mr. Penny. He has a fighting chance. Praise and glory be to God in the highest, for it is He who is the Master Physician. Whatever the Lord's will may be, I pray for peace, grace, and mercy for Mr. Penny and his family. Mr. Penny is a God fearing man and has touched the lives of thousands upon thousands of people within the Auburn community. His work, his dedication, and his love have touched the lives of each and every person he has ever met, as well as thousands of people who have never met him, only read about him or seen him on the news, internet, etc. God bless Mr. Penny and heal him in the way that only You can, Lord. Amen!

That's great to hear! I hope Mr. Penny has a chance to truly understand just how much this community truly loves him and appreciates all of the things that he has done here for the people of Auburn. I wish that I had just an ounce of the man in me that is the man that is Mr. Penny. He is a true role model in every sense of the word. He is a great man!

  • I was told from someone who was at EAMC last night and who saw Penny that he was "responsive".

Not sure what that means, but thought I'd pass it along...

That's how it appears, but there isn't any kind of official word on anything. There are a lot of conflicting reports, rumors, innuendo.
