Auburn people feel a deep and passionate responsibility to uphold standards not written on paper, but lived from the heart.

  • Come on guys, you give the guy the responsibility of rebuilding this program, don't second guess now what he is doing. Be behind him, support him in everything he is attempting to do and let him have the authority to carry that task out. Most incoming coaches always want someone around them that they have worked with and trusted, and is their staff. Let's get on the Gus Bus and ride! WDE!

  • I like the way Gus is spacing these announcements, keeping AU in the headlines and stealing the thunder. Would love a big recruit in say about 29 days

Today is a great day to love Auburn, a little better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Not to surprised that Grimes wasn't retained. I believe someone posted here that he and Gus had different philosophies about blocking schemes. Gus was a proponent of one-on-one blocking and Grimes was more of a zone blocker. I would assume he/Lashlee will hire someone more in line with what Gus wants.

last sentence is important. In his first day Gus said the coordinators would hire assistants but Lashlee does not have the experience or connections to make quality position hires inmy opinion so i hope Gus is heavily involved in the offensive assistant hires. EJ can handle the defensive hires just fine.

I was hoping for Kodi to return. The rest of the people coming from Ark. State, I'm not sure about. We need some recruiters BADLY. Can Lashlee recruit? I also worry about letting Yox go to be replaced with someone from Ark. State. What is this guy's background? Can he compete with Yox? I know Lashlee runs Malzahn's system but his lack of SEC experiencce in such a major role concerns me a lot if I'm being honest but since Gus is here I'm sure he will have a major say in the offense. I'm sure Gus realized how important recruiting is and will hopefully find some proven guys to add to this staff ASAP.

A profile of Ryan Russell. Looks like a dynamic, cutting-edge S&C coach.

The new S&C coach worked for Yox at Auburn. If you're going to be "the fastest team in America" you have to be conditioned. I can only assume Yox wasn't bought in. Sure hate to see him go.

I assume Gus is really the OC and will be heavily involved in offensive coaching hires. Curious to see all coaching hires, but OL and DL especially.

I agree. I'm ok with these guys, but I hope that's end of the Arky State pipeline. Hopefully the seven remaining spots will be filled with great coaches and recruiters. I would like to see some with NFL experience in their background to balance the staff.

Be careful referring to the Arky State pipeline. Kodi, Brett Whiteside, and Ryan Russell all have strong Auburn ties. As for Kodi, enough said. He epitomizes an Auburn man and he will be an outstanding addition to the staff. From inforation I have read, Brett was instrumental in two of the best recruiting classes we have ever had. He knows Auburn and will be an asset in our recruiting efforts. Ryan Russell was an assistant under Coach Yox and I am sure he will bring a lot of the qualities from that program. Lashlee is very well respected around the country as an up and coming offensive mind. He has played in the SEC and knows a lot about quarterbacks. I think these are all great hires to get us moving ahead quickly. From what I know about Coach Malzahn, he has a plan, a very detailed plan, and he is getting things going in the right direction for Auburn.
