Many of you will remember a story approx a month and a half ago about the #1 baseball prospect (and Vandy commit) in Tennessee, Stephen Gant, committing suicide in front of his girlfriend. His team, Riverside HS (Parsons, TN) is a 1-A school with barely over 350 kids. Gant had led the Panthers to 2 straight state championships in his soph and junior years. They were on pace for another when the tragedy happened. The team could've easily packed it in and no one would've blamed them. Instead, they dedicated the rest of the season to Gant and yesterday they won their 3rd straight state title despite the loss of the best prospect in the state. It says a lot about those kids and that community to accomplish that unlikely feat. Congrats to the boys and Coach Rhodes. Well done!!
