A concern about Jimbo

  • To this point in the 2012 season he is 10-2 which sounds very good but a deeper dive brings some glaring concerns. He has only beaten 2 teams with at least 6 wins and 8 teams with losing records. If that held true and he had been the HC at AU in 2012 out record would be...you guessed it...3-9!

    What would Chizik's record have been if he had been the HC at FSU in 2012? You guessed it 3-9.

    In truth he is batting .500 this year with teams with a winning record so if he did that at AU in 2012 we would have been 6-6 or 7-5...neither excite me.

    So every team with a "winning record" is the same?

    If you go 1-1 against two teams that are 7-5, are you just as likely to 1-1 against teams that are 11-1?

    I think maybe you're running things a little fast and loose with the numbers.

  • Exactly Tenntgr. Jimbo has feasted on a TERRIBLE schedule and then whined because the computers would not lie and rank him higher. Jimbo would be a horrible hire because he has beaten nobody. His best wins were South Carolina last year and Clemson this year. Hell AU beat SC last year and almost beat Clemson this year.He has only played 8 ranked teams in 3 years and is 3-5. He is 1-3 vs top ten teams. He has only played 2 ranked teams each of the last two seasons. Our schedule would devour Jimbo but you will hear he loves and knows AU so let's hire him.

    Jimbo's biggest wins the last two seasons were South Carolina last year and Clemson this year, Gene Chizik beat South Carolina last year and almost beat Clemson this year. He has played 2 ranked teams each of the last two years and then he wants to complain about not being ranked higher by those computers. He has lost to unranked teams Virgina, Wake Forest, and NC State whose coach was just fired. IMHO I would feel more confident about winning at Winston Salem (Wake Forest) where Jimbo lost last year than winning at Oxford, Starkville, or Nashville.
