It's these coaches that call them every week during the recruiting process. When the coach is no longer there this can't help but make a difference.

I think one of the most aspects of this isn't that they lost the person who was recruiting them, it is that they lost the whole coaching staff. There's no one left that they know and would have met and interacted with. If you look at this realistically, a lot of these these decommits should have been expected. Question - would you want the old coaching staff back with the recruiting class still in place or would you want to start fresh, keeping as many recruits as we can but knowing we'll lose our share - in This class? It's not like we recruited only mid-level talent in the last several recruiting classes - it's that they were never really developed and coached up to take full advantage of their talent and skills. Granted, we have a real need for LBs in this class but whether they come or not, we still have players on the team that play that position and I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do with some real coaching. Look at it this way - with what we know will be significant improvement on offense with the current players and the ones we're bringing in in this class, we may have to outscore our opponents to win. With Gus and Lashlee at the helm, I'm confident we can do that.

  • I'm gonna do another little jig this morning I'm so happy we got the me patrol out of the coaches offices. I will take a class full of walk ons as opposed to having the pee wee coaches back. This very reason is why I blasted the Admin 2 weeks ago for letti g these little league coaches keep recruiting and poisoning our recruits. Some of you bent over backwards to applaud their actions when it was just hurting Auburn. Suck it up, don't fret over snot nosed 17-18 yr olds, it will ruin your days. We need some fire around here and find 25 players that want to run out of that tunnel. Not someone that want to be butthole buddies with Troop, or Loop, or any other one of the ego gang that ran our program into the ground.

  • I have watched many HS football games this past fall, both in person and on the tube. Believe me, there are many players out there that the coaches have never seen that are really good players. Many of them simply play at smaller schools that don't get the attention, or at private schools that are routinely ignored by the media and recruiting services. I truly believe that is why some schools (Boise, Utah State, BYU, AFA, Kent State, etc.) can come up with good players that were never offered by the 'big schools'. There are plenty of those players right here in Alabama that would not only be good players, but good scholars as well. The need is to go find them, and with CGM coming from a high school background, I believe he will be more selective about whom he gets other than by just reading the stars! And that will be better for AU in the long run anyhow, IMHO! WDE!!

to decommits! It appears the former coaches were selling something other than the school. Maybe they were selling their personality and nothing else. Glad those coaches are gone. Sorry about the loss of commits for the future but one lousy recruiting class does not spoil the entire football team. We will preserver this year and emerge better than ever in the following recruiting classes. We will win our share of games next year despite this problem.

The Gus Bus hasn't pulled out of the station yet and it looks like we've got 3 flat tires and a broken radiator.

This is not the start this staff needed.

This current class still has the chance to much better than the one xCGC tried to salvage in 2009. What I am looking for is player development for a class like this, which we have not seen from the last couple of classes. Oh, and lots of discipline with less of a family attitude that keeps discipline from the mix.
