Us, Tackle? I'd forgotten that was possible. WDE!!!

It would be so nice to finally see another Auburn defense that is fundamentally sound. I'd love to see hard hits followed by aggressive wrap ups and an undying fervor to bring the guy with the ball down. That would be great to see again for us. I've almost forgotten what that looks like when a guy from Auburn is doing it.

I believe that Tubberville possibly would still be at AU if he had allowed Franklin to bring in his own coaches...and/or Borges before him.
CSL also didn't bring in his own staff under Chizik, Van Gorder did bring in Martinez.
If you are in a position of leadership the ability to pick your own staff is the best method by far.

I;m amazed that the entire pre 2012 seasn took place without one word contrary to Chizik's policy of radically changing the systems and not letting the coordinators have one word of say over who coaches supporting positions. How could everyone be so quiet about it all when we watched a similar mess develope in 2008? Coordinators won't be spending as much time coaching the ooaches and spend more time on watching them teach how to tackle. Did Auburn get the right man for the HC Job. Oh yes, they did.

I recall that article with Paul Rhoads after he took over at Iowa St, where he said first practice he had to shit it down and re teach fundentals of tackling. I expect a lot of that to be going on when they hit the field in spring.

These guys sure are saying and doing all the right things right now. We got our guy! Damn right it matters! WDE!

One thing for sure is that Gus Malzahn wont be radically changing his system like Chizik did. That's one thing that was always a negative for Gene. He seemed to have had something of a defensive philosophy but never seemed to have thought through what he wanted on offense and that left the team and the recruiting with no clear identity which led to poor recruiting when he tried the major change which started sometime in 2011 and ended-up running Malzahn off.
