Morgan Estelle slides home with Auburn's run in the first inning/Todd Van Emst photo
It was a busy day for Auburn sports Thursday. There was some good news and not-so-good news for the Tigers.
The No. 11 men’s golf team, led by freshman Niclas Carlsson’s 5-under 67, was in second place after the first round of the Colorado Regional. Baseball catcher Tony Caldwell was named a semifinalist for the Johnny Bench Award, presented annually to the top catcher in college baseball. So much for the good Auburn news.
The softball team dropped a 2-1 decision to Brigham Young in the first round of the NCAA Seattle Regional. The baseball team’s 5-2 loss at last-place Tennessee is documented elsewhere on this page.
