Jerome Seagears will finish his college career at Auburn.
The former Rutgers point guard announced Wednesday that he will transfer to Auburn, choosing the Tigers over Arkansas. He hopes to be eligible to play immediately.
“I Will Be Attending Auburn University To Finish My Student Athletic Career!!! War Eagle,” Seagears posted on his Twitter account.
Seagears, 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, announced his plans to transfer following the firing of former Rutgers head coach Mike Rice. He officially visited Auburn April 19 and Arkansas April 26. He also considered Marquette, West Virginia and Baylor.
Seagears plans to file a petition with the NCAA to be eligible to play next season and not sit out a year.
Seagears averaged 6.5 points and 2.6 assists in just over 27 minutes per game as a sophomore. He averaged 7.7 points and 2.5 assists as a freshman.
He averaged 32 points, 6.5 rebounds and 9.0 assists as a senior at Flora MacDonald in Red Springs, N.C.
