Rewind: Smith still undecided

DECISION NEARING FOR 4-STAR CB: 4-star cornerback Geno Smith from St. Pius X in Atlanta, Ga., is just five days away from announcing a decision between Auburn and Alabama. He’s planning to have the announcement Wednesday afternoon around 3:30 ET at his school.

Smith will choose Auburn or Alabama.

“I’m still undecided. I’m still 50-50. I’m going to use these last couple days and keep praying,” Smith told 247Sports. “...All the recruiting pitches have been said and there’s really not much else you can say. I’ve talked to coaches from Alabama and Auburn in the last week.

“...It’s going to depend on what I want to do and where I’m most comfortable. I plan on majoring in broadcasting and that’s a big thing. The opportunity may be there at the next level, but I have to be prepared for life beyond football.”

He said he stays in touch with two Auburn assistants -- receivers coach Trooper Taylor and cornerbacks coach Phillip Lolley.

“Coach Troop, you know, wants me at wide receiver and Lolley wants me to play DB when I get up there if I were to choose Auburn,” Jasper told 247Sports. “...I want to play offense, but whatever the team needs I’ll play.”

AUBURN AFTER ANOTHER IN-STATE WR; Junior wide receiver DeAndre Woods from Clay-Chalkville in Clay, Ala., is the second in-state wide receiver to pick up an offer from Auburn. The Tigers previously offered Earnest Robinson from Pinson (Ala.) Valley, who camped at Auburn this summer. So far, Woods hasn’t made it to Auburn.

"Auburn is talking to me too but I'm not really planning to take any visits there right now,” Woods told 247Sports. “I will have to see if a good opportunity to visit comes up this fall some time. Right now I'm just focused on getting ready for my season.”
