Rewind: Recruits on the road

ALEXANDER PLANS BUSY SUMMER: Offensive lineman Vadal Alexander from Buford (Ga.) High just wrapped up spring practice and will be hitting the road soon for a number of summer visits. The 4-star plans to visit Auburn, Texas, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Alabama. He remains open in his recruitment and plans a late decision.

Alexander is a top AU target.

“It was probably the hardest spring we have ever had here at Buford,” Alexander told 247Sports. "That's one thing about our coaches. They make us work hard and keep us hungry. Our goal is to win the fifth-straight title.”

POSSIBLE BIG CAT: 4-star safety Jordan Diggs from Island Coast in Cape Coral, Fla., is up to 25 offers. A number of coaches have stopped by his school this spring including one from Auburn on Wednesday. Auburn is one of several schools Diggs plans to visit this summer.

“I need to visit every school that has offered but that is hard with some of these schools far away,” Diggs told 247Sports. “I definitely need to visit South Carolina, Ole Miss, Nebraska, and Auburn. I may go up to Auburn for the Big Cat weekend. Also when I visit South Carolina, I will visit North Carolina and Clemson as well.”

Diggs plans to narrow his list this fall and announce a decision at the Army All-American game.

SUMMER DECISION BACK ON: Just a couple of weeks ago, cornerback Joshua Holsey from Creekside in Fairburn, Ga., said he wanted to hold off on a decision until this fall or later. But now the highly recruited prospect, who is up to 25 offers, is pointing toward a summer decision again. Holsey is expected to visit Auburn next weekend for Big Cat.

“I want to decide after the spring and in the summer,” Holsey told 247Sports. “...I’m looking for a place I can wake up at for the next 3-4 years and it feels like the right place.”

TOP 2013 SAFETY EMERGING: Safety Tray Matthews from Newnan (Ga.) High already has offers from Arkansas, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Southern Miss, and Virginia Tech. The 2013 prospect is hearing from several other top programs including Auburn, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Florida State and Ohio State.

“When I go to the camps, I just really want to show that I have improved,” Matthews told 247Sports. “Then I really want to go out and look at a bunch of different colleges. I don’t know what the atmosphere is like at a lot of them, so I want to get a feel for some of the schools. I do already know about Georgia and Auburn.”

THIS AND THAT: Linebacker Javier Mitchell from Leeds (Ala.) High recently added an offer from Mississippi State ..... 4-star cornerback Terry Richardson from Cass Tech in Detroit committed to Michigan Thursday over Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame and LSU ..... Vanderbilt brought its total to six commitments Thursday with the addition of three Georgia prospects in linebacker Darreon Herring from Stephenson in Stone Mountain, defensive end Stephen Weatherly from North Atlanta and defensive end Ladarius Banks from East Paulding in Dallas .....
