Rewind: Peat knows two

5-STAR KNOWS TWO FINALISTS: 5-star offensive tackle Andrus Peat from Corona Del Sol in Tempe, Ariz., visited Notre Dame and Michigan last week and plans trips to Texas and Auburn in July. Auburn made Peat’s first cut down to 13 schools and he’s now working to cut that list even more. He already knows two finalists.

"I'm 100 percent sure that Notre Dame will be in it until the end," Peat told 247Sports. "The only other school I can say that about right now is Nebraska (where his older brother, Todd Peat, Jr., signed in the 2011 recruiting class)."

ELITE D-END WANTS TO VISIT: 4-star defensive end Noah Spence from Bishop McDevitt in Harrisburg, Pa., has already visited Penn State, Pittsburgh, N.C. State, Rutgers and Maryland and plans several more trips before narrowing his list and making a decision.

"I want to see everyone I can," Spence told ESPN.com. "I will take all my official visits. I am pretty open with the entire process. I would like to see USC, Florida, Miami, Alabama, Auburn, Cal and a bunch of other schools."

STAUB ON A MISSION: Linebacker/fullback Nathan Staub from Buford (Ga.) High was a standout at an Auburn camp a couple of weeks ago. Staub, 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds, has picked up offers from Virginia, North Carolina, California and Harvard and is hoping to earn several more this summer. He hopes to have a decision during his senior season.

“I suffered a thigh contusion and sprained my MCL throughout the course of the season, so my tape wasn't that good,” Staub told 247Sports. “I was just a big fat fullback trying to bowl people over. Schools started coming out this spring and the feedback has been very positive."

EARLY INTEREST FOR RUNNING BACK: 2013 running back Kaleb Blanchard from Denham Springs (La.) High is already receiving interest from a number of schools including LSU, Auburn and Texas A&M. He grew up an LSU fan and said it would be tough to pass up an offer from the Fighting Tigers.

“The only thing about LSU is that they are pretty loaded at running back. I want to play,” Blanchard told 247Sports. “I don't want to sit for like three years. It will be something I'll have to think about but I will be excited if they do call ... If LSU doesn't offer me I'm not sure what school would be my favorite. Right now it would be either Auburn or A&M."

THIS AND THAT: Auburn commit Joshua Holsey from Creekside in Fairburn, Ga., was chosen for the Southeast team in the Gridiron Kings 7-on-7 tournament held July 22-25 at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports ..... Running back Barry Sanders Jr. has trimmed his list to four schools: Oklahoma State, Alabama, Florida State and Stanford ..... Kicker Austin Hardin from Marist in Atlanta, Ga., committed to Florida after attending a Gators’ camp ..... Offensive tackle Russell Wallace from Valley (Ala.) High was a standout at a Kentucky camp a couple of weeks ago ..... Former Florida All-SEC cornerback Janoris Jenkins has transferred to North Alabama and will play for Terry Bowden this fall.
