ELITE DB NAMES TOP FIVE: After visiting Auburn last week and Florida State over the weekend, 4-star defensive back Deon Bush from Columbus High in Miami, Fla., has narrowed an impressive list of offers to a top five. He doesn’t have a timetable for a decision.
Bush had a great trip to Auburn.
“Florida State, Alabama, Auburn, Purdue, and Miami, but not in order,” Bush told 247Sports.
4-STAR RB MAKING THE ROUNDS: Speedy running back Brian Kimbrow of East High in Memphis has been all over the South visiting schools this summer. He was in Auburn for Big Cat Weekend and most recently at a Miami camp, where he earned running back MVP honors. Kimbrow named Auburn, Vanderbilt and Cincinnati as three of his top schools following Big Cat but is keeping everything even at this time.
“I’m at like 30 offers, I think, but no schools at the top right now,” Kimbrow told 247Sports. “I’ve been to a lot of places, probably like 10 different schools. I was just at Clemson, now I’m in Miami, and I’ll see Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Louisville and Kentucky this summer. More than likely, I’ll commit before the season, but I don’t know for sure yet. I’m still debating that, actually.”
IN-STATE DT CAMPS AT BAMA: Four-star defensive tackle Tyler Nero from Escambia County in Atmore was at Alabama this weekend for a camp. He participated in the camp and met with several Tide coaches. Nero has offers from Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida and Florida State. He is leaning toward staying in-state.
“I’d like to stay in-state if I can, but I’m still kind of wide open,” Nero told 247Sports. “I feel the same way about Alabama and Auburn. I didn’t camp at Auburn because their coaches told me I didn’t have to. They know what kind of football player I am. I don’t have any other visits or camps planned that I know of. I really don’t know when I might decide. If something pops up and it just hits me I might commit, but I’m not sure when that will be.”
ELITE 2013 QB PLANS VISIT: Rising junior quarterback Jonathan McCrary from Cedar Grove in Ellenwood, Ga., already has some big-time offers, including Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida State, Clemson, Ohio State and Notre Dame. Auburn is actively recruiting McCrary, and he plans to visit this summer or fall. He’s planning to graduate in December of 2012.
“When I watch games now, I see gametime decisions, how the coach treats the quarterback, how he treats his team,” McCrary told 247Sports. “How the quarterback is, how he is a leader, what the stadium is like and see what the people are like – the fans.”
DARLINGTON MAKES HIS PICK: Offensive lineman Ty Darlington from Apopka (Fla.) High committed to Oklahoma on Friday. He said his finalists came down to the Sooners, Auburn, Stanford, Navy, Nebraska and Miami.
“Well, in my recent prayers I have been asking for guidance or a feeling where I needed to go to school and every time that I would really think about it, Oklahoma would pop into my head,” Darlington told 247Sports. “I have wanted to be a Sooner my whole life, and even in little league when I pretended that I was playing for a college I was always an Oklahoma Sooner.”
