Rewind: 5-star RB tweets WDE

A TWEET TO REMEMBER: Cornerback Geno Smith from St. Pius X in Atlanta, Ga., tweeted Sunday that he plans to visit Auburn this upcoming weekend. Running back Keith Marshall from Millbrook in Raleigh, N.C., had an interesting tweet in response.

Marshall is a top Auburn target.

Here’s the first tweet from SmithGeno4: “I'm going down to auburn next weekend...oh yeaaaaaaaaa”

Here’s the reply from Truthh4: “WDE lol”

Smith, a 4-star, recently named Alabama, Tennessee and Florida State as his top three schools. Marshall, a 5-star, plans to narrow his list this summer, go on most of his visits this fall, have a decision by December and enroll in college in January. He visited Auburn last month.

SURPRISING STAR: Prattville (Ala.) High is already loaded with prospects for the 2012 class. Another one stepped to the forefront Saturday at the MVP camp in cornerback Laronji Vason, who was named overall MVP. So far, Vason’s only offer is from Arkansas State.

Haston Coates from Pleasant Grove (Ala.) High was also a surprise earning offensive line MVP honors. Coates, 6-foot-3 and 340 pounds, doesn’t have any current offers. Justin Shanks, a 4-star and top Auburn target, won the defensive line MVP award.

AUBURN STANDING OUT FOR BIG OT: Offensive tackle Vadal Alexander from Buford (Ga.) High told 247Sports that Auburn was one of three schools that are really standing out to him at this time.

“I would say LSU, Alabama, and Auburn just because I’ve visited them so far,” Alexander said. “I’m also looking at Texas, Miami, and Florida State as well.”

Alexander visited Auburn for a Junior Day last month and the LSU game last fall. He plans to have a top five or top ten by the end of this summer and a decision close to Signing Day.

THIS AND THAT: 4-star offensive tackle Zach Banner from Lakes in Lakewood, Wash., was offered by Auburn last week and hopes to visit later this summer or fall ..... 4-star offensive tackle Javarius Leamon from Woodruff (S.C.) High told 247Sports that he plans to return to Auburn for another visit this spring or summer. He visited Auburn for the first time in early March ..... Offensive lineman Alphonse Taylor from Davidson in Mobile, Ala., committed to Florida State Monday. He is the Seminoles eighth commitment for the 2012 class.
