I spent most of the afternoon and evening doing my annual duty and trying to pay Uncle Sam as little as possible, so pardon me if I didn’t keep up too well with the happenings of the day.

I did, of course, keep up Auburn’s baseball game, a tough 3-2 loss at LSU. Regardless, the Tigers have come back from oblivion. Two weeks ago they were 2-7 in the SEC and five games behind first-place Alabama in the West. Today, they’re 7-8 and just one game out of first place.

The West is going to get crazy. Alabama, Arkansas and Ole Miss are tied for first at 8-7. Auburn is a game behind. Mississippi State is just a game behind auburn. The Tigers take on Ole Miss at Plainsman Park in a three-game series starting Thursday. …

Anthony Gulley Morgan looks to me like the real deal at running back. …

Auburn players who finished their careers in the BCS Championship Game were all over the place on Saturday, signing autographs and posing for pictures. Sunday, head coach Gene Chizik headed for Talladega, where he was the Grand Marshal. Michael Waltrip’s Toyota was decked out with Auburn logos and colors. That’s how it is when you win it all. …

From what I heard, there were lots of boos when Chizik was introduced. Nothing like people showing their class. …
