Ramblin' around ...

I work in healthcare and the research is clear: education, more than any other factor (including income and $ spent on medical care) has the highest association with lifelong health. Blanche Alverson, by putting books in kids' hand at an early age, is impacting those kids' lives in many other meaningful ways beyond just learning to read. Thanks for sharing this great story about this inspiring young woman.

I would also love to hear more of how things are different now that Gene is gone.

I literally cried when Bo went over the top. I see the 30/30 now, and marvel at the speed of such a big man. Scatbacks yes, but nobody really wanted to try to tackle Bo. Not Brian Bosworth, except one fateful time, and he wishes he hadn't.

Pat Dye's first year (1981) bama beat us in "the football capitol of the south", but as my wife and I were leaving I was very upbeat. My words were, "Those s.o.b.s won this year but we're not afraid of them any more."

When bear bryant called us the cow college he insulted my school, my education, and my degree. I think that's why I hate the football program so much. I can even pull for bama gymnastics and basketball. Both are programs with quality coaches who make their athletes do right. And no, I never pull for them against us, or in any situation where their loss would benefit us.

Thank you Phillip for sharing the greatness of a special young woman who is definitely making a difference and it will be interesting to see what she will accomplish when she is out in the business world. Thank you for your great contributions to AU Ms. Alverson.
As for Bo.... he was and is a remarkable person and athlete. As an athlete I believe he is one of a kind, he could excel at any sport he decided to play. Just a natural at everything. We are blessed he chose Auburn to showcase his talents. I had the good fortune to watch Bo Jackson on several occasions when he played football for Auburn and he always delivered what you expected from him .... he did not disappoint. Thank You Bo and Blanche for being a true Auburn Man and Auburn Woman!!!

I took a look back at the 2009-2010 season and we put 10K in the arena for a Saturday game vs Ms State. 9K for a weekday game vs a 10-18 LSU squad. This was Lebo's last season I believe.

I bet if you were to take a look at our attendance over the last 20 years, this season has to be one of the lowest if not the lowest. Like I said, it's an optical illusion. And like the attendance, the support for Barbee is at an all time low as well... The only thing that is "remarkable" is how we can be this bad!

Can you imagine Bo as a full time decathlete. He could score in 100m, 400m, all of the throwing events, high jump , long jump, hurdles, and well, just everything. He loved track and field but it is unfortunately all amateur.
