#PMARSHONAU: Late lunchtime musings

The last time Auburn was a three-touchdown underdog at Jordan-Hare Stadium? Unless I'm overlooking something, it was against No. 1 Florida in 2001. Damon Duval kicked a 44-yard field goal as time expired and Auburn won 23-20.

Auburn had just one loss, but it was a 31-7 stinker at Syracuse. Quarterback Daniel Cobb came off the bench to spark Auburn's offense. Karlos Dansby's interception of a Rex Grossman pass set up the drive to the game-winning field goal.

Could that happen again when LSU comes calling Saturday night? Sure it could, but this LSU team is much more physically dominant than was that Florida team. ...

Is the SEC the best league in college football top to bottom this season? When you take Auburn and Arkansas off the list of top-level teams, it changes the equation. We'll see how it plays out. ...

I have to wonder how Arkansas players felt about Tyler Wilson, their injured quarterback, telling reporters that it was hard to stand on the sideline and watch his teammates give up in a 52-0 loss to Alabama. I would think not very good, which is one of the reasons I believe Arkansas' season could come completely unglued. ...

If running back Corey Grant is healthy, I wonder if we're going to see him carry the ball. March isn't like August, but he was clearly Auburn's most effective running back in spring practice. ...

I'll be very surprised if Auburn's offensive gameplan isn't very conservative against LSU. The Tigers have to be able to run the ball, make some first downs and not turn the ball over if they are to have a chance at an upset. ...

To set the record straight, Wayne Bolt is a friend of mine and has been for many years. His wife has been a friend of mine for many years longer than that. He's a good person, and nothing I have written has implied otherwise. Nor did anything I wrote say or imply there is massive dissension on the Auburn coaching staff. ...
