It's tough to win big on Saturday without landing signatures from the Jim's and Joe's during the recruiting process.

Auburn assistant line coach Rodney Garner went out and landed three five-star defensive linemen in Montravius Adams, Carl Lawson and Elijah Daniel.

These assistant coaches did it better than anyone else in 2013 and make up 247Sports Top50 recruiters in 2013.

Alabama's Mike Groh was named the 247Sports National Recruiter of the Year.

Im sure. Not going to look at who all of those guys listed landed but Locksley was primarily responsible for Deon Long, Derwin Gray, Yannick Ngakoue, and a group of solid 3*'s (Milan Collins, Jermaine Carter, Cavon Walker)

Yea I was pretty surprised not to see Tom Herman or Everett Withers on there for OSU. I think both are better than Fickell and Vrabel who are also very good.
Herman is the Texas guy that got us three players in a state we've never done well in. He also helped reaffirm Zeke Elliot and helped on James Clark.
Withers had what Urban called the "the greatest recruiting job ever done with a player" with his recruitment of Vonn Bell.

Kind of a silly list, how hard is it to come up with a Top 50 and seriously why would you name a guy as the best in the nation when all he does is pick up the phone and tell a kid yes or no. How in the hell Ole Miss's guy is not the years best is a joke......but it is Terry's network

Well because there was no clear recruiter for Laremy Tunsil given. Otherwise, we would have gone in that direction without a doubt.
Also, if you understand recruiting, you know that even if you are successful like Bama is, it's not as easy as picking up the phone with regards to out-of-state talent. Robert Foster was very close to going to Pitt and A'Shawn Robinson was committed to Texas and had USC as a very strong No. 2 (and at times No. 1) for the majority of the process.
He did the best recruiting job for the best class.

They actually did a very nice job of filling needs with talent upgrades. I didn't realize it until I really broke down their class but it was strong on the OL and at LB. Getting Terrell Newby and Johnny Stanton out of California was a big deal as well.

We could have really put the whole staff on there. Truly a team effort. Individually though Garner got three five-star defensive linemen. Unprecedented.

Think Newby is going to be a star at Nebraska. Surprised you left off Scott Booker for ND. Young fella is well on his way to becoming a star in the recruiting game. Noticed late in the recruiting cycle BK had him in TX, CA, and hitting the East Coast. He's really made good inroads in GA. If he ends up being as good as Alford we are in for a fun ride.
