AUBURN - Reese Dismukes, a freshman All-American who started every game last season, is on the watch list for the Rimington Trophy, presented annually to college football's top center.
Dismukes is one of 50 players on the list, including nine from the Southeastern Conference. He is one of seven sophomores to make the list.
Auburn offensive line coach Jeff Grimes said Dismukes learned his lessons well as a freshman starter and made great strides in spring practice.
"Now he's a guy that steps in the huddle with confidence," Grimes said. "His body has changed. He's learner, he's stronger, he's quicker, he's more confident. I think he's healthier, too. He played all of last year banged up one place or another, usually multiple places. He's in a much better place physically and mentally right now."
Joining Dismukes on the list from the SEC are Alabama's Barrett Jones, Florida's Jonotthan Harrison, South Carolina's T.J. Johnson, LSU's P.J. Lonergan, Kentucky's Matt Smith, Arkansas' Travis Swanson, Mississippi's Evan Swindall and Texas A&M's Patrick Lewis.
