Auburn sophomore defensive back Jonathan Rose has left the team and will not return according to his high school coach.
“It’s just personal reasons. It’s nothing to do with Auburn or the coaching staff. They’ve been great with him,” Leeds coach Keith Etheredge said. “We don’t know where he’s going to end up right now.
“I don’t know the full story or anything. I just know he’s not going back to Auburn.”
Etheredge said Auburn granted Rose an unconditional release and he will transfer to another school.
Rose had an up and down year and a half at Auburn. He signed with the Tigers out of Leeds as one of the state of Alabama’s top prospects in the 2011 class. He enrolled in January but was suspended for the Clemson game last fall due to a violation of team rules.
He went on to play sparingly in nine games last fall, tallying two tackles. Rose had a productive spring practice but left the team earlier this summer due to personal issues.
