Rich Bisaccia, assistant head coach for special teams with the San Diego Chargers has emerged as a leading candidate to join first-year head coach Gus Malzahn's staff at Auburn.
Bisaccia, who helped the Tampa Bay Bucs win a Super Bowl in 2002, is regarded as one of the top special teams coaches in the game. He is also a career running backs coach.
Malzahn, who has aready hired six coaches, is looking to hire three more.
The defensive staff, led by coordinator Ellis Johnson, is complete. Defensive line coach Rodney Garner, and defensive backs coaches Charlie Harbison and Melvin Smith are on board. Ellis will likely coach linebackers.
On offense, coordinator Rhett Lashlee and line coach J.B. Grimes are on board. Coaches are still needed for running backs, wide receivers and tight ends.
