Three of Auburn’s basketball signees will be playing for state championships this weekend.
It all gets started Friday afternoon as guard Jordan Price leads SW Dekalb in the Georgia Class AAAA championship game against 3-time defending champion Miller Grove at 3:45 pm CT.
Price is averaging 19.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists as a senior.
Friday evening, Shaq Johnson and his Milton teammates will take the floor in a matchup against Savannah for the Class AAAAA championship. Johnson led Milton to a 73-52 rout of Harrison in the semifinals with 17 points, including four dunks, and seven rebounds.
Milton will be making its fourth straight trip to the championship game winning in 2010 and coming up just short in 2009 and 2011.
Both games will be played in the Gwinnett Arena in Duluth. Ga.
On Saturday, forward Jordan Granger will try to lead McCluer North to its second-straight Missouri Class 5 state championship against Nixa at 4:50 pm at the Missouri Arena in Columbia.
Granger is averaging 14.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game as a senior.
A fourth signee, center Asauhn Tatum from Chattahoochee Tech in Marietta, Ga., wrapped up his sophomore season Wednesday in a 57-56 loss to Albany Tech in the first round of the GCAA Tournament. Tatum had 23 points, nine rebounds and three blocks in his final game.
Chatt Tech finished 19-12 with the 7-foot Tatum averaging 11.3 points and a NJCAA-leading 5.3 blocks per games. He was fifth in the NJCAA with 11.7 rebounds per game.
