It was Saturday, June 5, 1993 when I stood in awe as my beautiful bride Yvonne walked down the aisle at historic Wilson Chapel in Roebuck.
I can remember being nervous and a little scared. But I was mostly proud. Proud that I had found a women who loved me and that I loved.
Marrying Yvonne was the best decision I ever made.
I can remember when I first saw her with a group of her sorority sisters at the Delta Chi house in the fall of 1988. I remember our first kiss in the doorway of her dorm at CDV extension after I walked her home from a band party.
I remember our first date, which was to play putt-putt and then dinner at Ryan’s. I don’t think that putt-putt exists and the old Ryan’s on Opelika Hwy., not the chain, closed years ago.
We dated for five years before we were married. I wasn’t the world’s best boyfriend but she stuck with me through it all.
The last 20 years have flown by.
We have a beautiful family. A 15-year old son, Tyler, and two daughters, 12-year old Ashley and 9-year old Cassidy. And of course, Biscuit, our 5-year old goldendoodle. He’s part of the family too.
We have so much to be thankful for. It’s more than I could have ever wished for back on that day 20 years ago.
So today, I just want to say I love you, Yvonne, and Happy Anniversary.
